what are floppy discs?

here are some clues:
1) they are not floppy
2) they are not round

I use a floppy drive, for installing drivers for RAID controllers. Backups and things are on USB Sticks, encrypted.

That aint ancient software, if he was using PkZip/PkUnZip, then that would be old skool!

i know that floppy disks are floppy!

how old are you sfb?!

i would have thought older than me, but perhaps its all an elaborate rouse.
is this the tiny mistake that becomes the downfall of sfb!

I would describe them as "slightly flexy", not floppy 🙂 But they're definitely nearly square.

how old are you sfb?!

well old

Excel spreadsheets that need to be worked on by various office workers on computers that aren't linked together using technology everyone's familiar with in a simple and cost effective manner.

Now, I could hook all these machines together, load all the info onto a central drive, and cut out the discs, but:

1) I can't be arsed
2) my computers are so old, I can't hook them all up together without probably scrapping the whole lot and starting from scratch and I'm too tight to do that, and I can't stand the companies that come and quote me inflated prices for doing it.
3) the Floppies work...
4) I can't be arsed...

Olly: you may want to check your troll facts.

*.docx is an Office 2007 format, not a "massive vista file", plus they are often smaller than equivalents (e.g. try comparing to Open Office)

i use them for putting fixture personality files and saving shows on various lighting consoles, only just being replaced by USB on newer desks. Sadly implementing USB has meant making many desks PC based which has bought PC reliability (sic) and start up time into play.
