I think I've survived one year out of 5. I can still remember where I got knocked out each year - Rylan on the radio (not my choice), a mate's car on Christmas Eve, the music quiz "that won't have any Christmas music" and the shop that has lots of independent makers stuff for sale.

I don't try and actively avoid it, makes a survival more satisfying.

I suspect I'll be lucky to still be in at lunchtime. 🙁

I suspect that hiding from the rain in shop doorways today could lead to an early fail.

dodged it by 60 seconds this morning apparently as someone had radio 2 on with scott mills about to play an hour of christmas songs.  asked them to turn that sh1t off, they refused, i gambled with the first song (Elton John) whilst i finished my cuppa, then left to do some actual work.  ive just been told it was the second song on 😀

Official rules: https://whamageddon.com/

And yes, it starts on the 1st of December. If you heard it before then you have my sympathies, but you're still in the game.

I'm fully expecting to be Whammed on Weds afternoon at the German Market in Brum. If I survive that, the rest of the month should be a piece of piss.

Switched the TV on this am to stream some shows, ITV had some Scottish kids on the show. They walked on to Last Christmas so I would have been out. I’ve not done it for a few years but when I did it wasn’t too difficult.

I love the song and even have it on a couple of non Xmas play list!

Just feel you're all depriving yourself of the joys of hearing a great song. Last Christmas is one of my favourite things about Christmas, along with the Darts!

Is anybody switching to Mariah Carey then or just sticking to the usual Wham? I'm gonna just go for Wham again myself.

Avoiding Mariah Carey all year around is a great idea.

Good start. I'm sure that the very next day, you'll throw it away.

Sadly that's my favourite Christmas tune, reminds me of waiting for LittleMissMC to be born safely - we'd found a late issue when MrsMC was overdue with Jnr, I was a wreck worrying about the next one.

I'm out!

2nd of December! Some div put on a Christmas compilation at work.

It's playing right now.

I'm sobbing 😔

Although, I feel a certain lifting of pressure from getting it out of the way 😂

It's Heart & Amanda Holden's fault.......

Made it further than I have in past 5 years. Dread jumping in the car to drive to work in mornings, because if Mrs CFSB has used the car evening before, I can be sure she has left Heart Christmas on the bloody radio.

Lunch in a place in Shrewsbury yesterday did for me, it was playing on the PA system as I was walking out, but the damage had been done by then. At least I can 'enjoy' Brum German Market without having fingers in my ears tonight.

Relieved, some awful remix was played by a fitness instructor warming the cubs up for the Santa Dash last night.

Narrow avoidance at Track League last night. They liek to play banging tunes and last night was the Christmas special. Someone managed to remove Wham, from the playlist. Dionmaggddon, I'm out many times over!

Out! Swore I'd only tune the radio to Radio 4 for the month, but stupidly tuned it to Radio 2... for the dogs while I was out! Came home to you know what.

i believe it has to be a playing of the original recording?  A live performer was singing it at a Christmas market I was at (rather well actually).  So I am still in.  Or out.

Standing watching the Christmas tractor rally through the town. The lead out truck had last Christmas playing.... Foiled early. Last year I made it to the 20th.

If it's not the original, it doesn't count.

What about if it's the original for a few seconds then the rest in the style of 9 different metal artists?

It was self inflicted but arguably worth it.

Shortly followed by Spice Up Your Life in the style of System Of A Down. 😂 My 13 year old who is a SOAD fan had never heard the original so we played that next. He was not overly impressed.

You can play a Joker. Only if you announce a gap where you may hear it, such adverts on channel 4.

Thought I might get away with it this year, but I was unexpectedly nailed in a hipster cocktail bar in Glasgow on Saturday 😢

Perhaps they were playing it ironically.

Definitely got Wham bam boozled on Friday 5th. We'd been in a meeting room in a hotel for the last two days, but the room we were in was playing Christmas music - managed until about 10am. Got 'hit' a few times later as we were in Manchester prior to a concert.

I really thought that a Christmas playlist at work today (Christmas jumper enforced fun day) or at my dentist appointment later would see me off, but no! Still in it to win it!

well i took the decision to exit on purpose sadly.  grandaughters nativity play, my wife and my lad went yesterday and told me it was a good job i couldnt go as they played it 😀

opportunity arose this morning for a ticket so i nipped out of work to go, fully aware that my time would be up.  im comfortable with that decision 🙂

ahm oot.

Just spoke to a colleague - they played it 2 mins after I left the restaurant last night. It's like a bullet has been stopped by a cigarette case.

Earlier in the thread, I warned about post match music being played in the stadium when watching your team.

This time, it was the pre match music that got me.

I'm still in despite having to visit Shrewsbury town centre to accompany MrsA. Dodged a bullet somehow.

I had a close shave last week in the pub but was reassured that what I heard was a cover version- phew

Still in!

My local pub has adopted some kind of shit Christmas song cover version playlist, suspect it's cheaper on royalties than the real thing. Reckon this is helping.

I'm still in, despite Mrs fadda having radio 2 on in the car, and going shopping twice!

Thought I was going to be had today when we stopped off for a coffee after a walk - Christmas playlist was on but I still escaped.

Don't know how long I can last, as I'm at the leisure centre tomorrow and Tuesday, with the kids soft play area very audibly close, but hey ho...
