So what's in your office?

It's a stunning day here in Reading and sitting here with the doors open, sunshine pouring into my office and the sound of birds twittering away has made me reflect on how lucky I am to be in this particular office at this moment 🙂 couple of summers ago mrsconsequence temped in an office which had no windows or ventilation all summer... i can't imagine that!

A large pair of French doors - the other side of which - looking out at a well cared for and pleasant garden

Where my wife and unemployed daughter are busy sunning themselves and sipping wine whilst I have to listen to yet ANOTHER stupid yank on a conference call 👿
2 'kin hours and he still hasn't come up for breath

[img] [/img]my office is quite boring, but as the day goes on it gets hotter and hotter, I used to work with someone who's office was sitting on a sun terrace in spain answering the phone every so often working off a lap top. i used to hate them!

I would love to have a job where i can work outside on nice days and inside on horrible days....but i think that is more wishful thinking

2 of those office standard L shaped desks + 2 3-drawer units

my computer
my netbook (shhhhh)
4 blue swivel chairs
coat stand
filing cabinet
medication cabinet
2 seater leather sofa

2 24" monitors floating near my face, a fresh coffee on the side, a nice big yukka plant and sunshine creeping into my batcave... going to call it early today again and go for a ride at 3.

[smug]Even better at the end of May when I relocate to Morzine[/smug]

At the moment?

About 6 tables, a 25ft bar where I can get an espresso or cold beer (later!), and view of the Mediterranean.

If only I could finish this 'king report 👿

Well a few servers, used to be more but I virtulised them all last year, still make an annoying 'hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm' noise all day.

Kitchen worktop that is my desk that goes around the room. A load of printer cartridges, some IT spares / junk and currently my project for the Easter break is to convert the stack of VHS videos into digital format and setup a media server so they can be streamed to the classrooms on request.

I am now an expert in keeping clean, stop smoking, first aid, disabled children and body bugs!

However the highlight of my office is the 'cool' wall of pictures of my lovely daughter, my wife and my cheeky nephews.

I can glance across the ICT suite and see the blue skys outside but thats it for windows but to be fair monitors and light don't mix well so comes with the job.

I can also see my road bike sat there waiting to be riden hard on the way home in the sun!

One tea break and an hour and half to go!!

blackberry, laptop, IP phone

all on my desk facing out of a floor to ceiling window looking onto the river. i'm 7 floors up so got a nice view of some yorkshire hills too.

i don't want to turn around, because lurking behind me are 10ft high built in filing cupboards full of stuff that i really should be dealing with.

Nobody in the office and thats why in 2 mins all I'll be able to see are the inside of my eyelids, I tend to fade away at this time of day, everyday

There are two wings on each floor of the building in which I work. I work on the second floor.

In my wing there are 88 desks, mostly populated, and 9 directors' offices, half occupied.

There's way too much stuff here for me to inventory for you lot..!

Six computers on six desks;
11 drawers worth of filing cabinets;
Lots of shelves, covered in stuff we never use;
A robot arm (broken).

Most of this could get thrown away and nobody would notice - my shelves are almost empty and I can't remember when I last took anything out og my filing cabinet drawers.

i have 4 lengths of steel and one of aluminium.

one of the bits of box section steel is painted a very fetching bluey colour. no-one knows who's they are. i guess as i've been here longest then they are passed to me?

i wonder if there is a policy for 'inheriting steel sections/ aluminium extrusions in the office environment'?

Like cougar's, only smaller, with a fax machine, and swathes and swathes of samples of materials and textiles, with phone buried underneath them.

View from the office windows. Probably won't be here much longer due to a lack of work coming in.
