Fir foot fungus, Phaeolus schweinitzii.

Grows on the roots of conifers and causes major decay in the main roots and lower trunks, the brackets can appear some way from the host tree. If it's near buildings or roads best to get the tree checked.

Our first thought was chicken of the woods too, only seen that on the trunk tho.

Everything swamp boy says seems accurate tho, about ten feet from the biggest Sitka spruce I've seen in me puff, be a shame if it killed it off.
