Top of garden cleared and turfed - pass
Sand and paving slabs bought - pass
Patio space excavated - pass
Patio laied - fail
Gate added to fence - fail

An existing fence post that I thought was loose was in fact rotten, so I started trying to dig the concrete base out. Epic amounts of swinging and hacking, managed to shift about a third of the concrete. That's going to be a long old job.

Fireplace tiled - pass
Shelves built - pass
Walls undercoated - pass
Window sealed - pass
Coving and picture rail painted - pass
Stove repainted - pass
Stove bricks replaced - FAIL

Dammit! had to call in a specialist as the retaining screws for the fire bricks will not budge and the heads are more stripped than a room full of Hooter's auditionee's

Excavate patio space - pass.
Scalpings in subase - semi pass. Ran out of scalpings. Going to get more now.

My excuses: Finished night shift on Saturday morning, so needed to sleep. Went to the seaside on Sunday. So only day and a half really. Most of that was spent queuing at that tip to get rid of the soil.

Things learned: Grubbing mattocks are great. 🙂

Bathroom radiator removed
Bathroom wall stripped back to Victorian plaster / brick
Bathroom wall patching started (holes too deep to fill in one go)
Lawn mowed
Moss killer applied to garden paths

the list is endless......

Mattocks are indeed ace for stony soil. I'd have had the patio dug out in a quarter the time if I'd borrowed one from my neighbour earlier. Now using the sharp end to smash the concrete fence post base. A few good strikes can actuall cause tiny concrete chips to rain down over a large area of parked cars, quite spectacular. Need some decent safety goggles.. and to remember to keep my mouth shut...

Also, my wife snapped our long handled spade digging rotten log edging out of the borders.. but B&Q agreed to take it back and I got a Fiskars one - result.

I cut the grass, front and back.

Also put a tin under a mysterious drip from the boiler. It's stopped dripping now.

I looked at various tools and tool chests online

Other than that, utterly failed to do anything DIY related - the weather was too nice!

Mine had that, the drain tap on the heat exchanger developed a leak in the weld, which then sealed itself with rust over a few months......

Mostly strimming and planting out flowers in the mini meadow for me. I saw a young Roe deer in the park and wondered how long the tasty new poppy shoots will be around.
