Ok, so had an email from TSO hosting (Mr Site) who I have my website and main business email with. They are closing down at end of June and say I will lose my website ( doesn’t bother me) and my email address ( which does bother me).
Now, how do I move this email address (myname@mycompanyname.co.uk) to another platform. From time to time I have to go to Mr Site email site to clear the emails from my 500gb allowance, but I generally use outlook to access them .

TIA

You need to find out who is registered as hosting your domain, once you know that or the process of moving that registration to someone else you’re good to go.

I believe the STW default answer is Mythic Beasts (that’s who I got steered too).

Later in the process you need to have a plan for migrating your existing emails to your new hosting. This can be done by ensuring that your emails are downloaded to your own computer and then plonked back to your new hosting.

Yep you just need to get onto your Domain name provider, which may well be the same as your host, and repoint the MX records to the new hosting provider.

Hmm. I am with https://www.tsohost.com/. Nothing about them closing on their website? I find them excellent. maybe its just mr site that is closing - ask them to transfer you to TSO.

It looks like TSOHost acquired Mr Site in 2018, and are now closing it down. I'm surprised they aren't being more helpful about migrating their customers from Mr Site to TSOHost though.

Are they hosting your email or forwarding it to another mailbox / provider? They are closing down at end of June and say I will lose my website ( doesn’t bother me) and my email address ( which does bother me).

You need to ascertain exactly how it's all set up currently, and who with.

You need to find out where your DNS records are primarily held and ask what's happening there. This controls your ownership of mycompanyname.co.uk and is the address book which says where your website is and where to send your emails. In an ideal world they could just silently absorb it into TSO Host but I wouldn't like to just assume.

By the sounds of things you aren't losing your email address, you're losing your email hosting. You'll need to find someone else to either host your account or forward it to something else like Gmail / Hotmail.

Yeah, it's just MrSite stuff they're shutting down. More info here: TsoHost swings axe at 'legacy' DIY website builder MrSite, giving customers a month to find alternative arrangements

I believe the STW default answer is Mythic Beasts (that’s who I got steered too).

Thanks for the recommendation 🙂 Feel free to drop us an email (support@mythic-beasts.com) if we can help, or if you need some more information in the process. If you tell us the domain name, we can confirm who the registrar is currently.

Thanks all, and it is indeed only the Mr Site ( oops should have made that clear ) that is going.
I’ll get onto TSO host to see what they can do (seems easiest option).

I paid the yearly subscription to them in March which was split into Mr Site and a separate payment for domain renewal (all paid in lump sum to TSOHOST).
You would think they would want to keep your business and offer to sort it out , but hey ho.

pdw, thanks for the offer and i will take you up on that if I can’t get any joy out of the company I have paid my money to 😁
