apparently I need to get one of these for a christmas pressie

I see there are 2,3 and 4 wheeled variants and some have a joint in the middle while others don't. Is it like bikes, where you need a whole stable/quiver of steeds/rigs ?

I'll be after a non-flimsy all-rounder, so what would be a good one for many cheapnesses ?
Are the ded cheap ones properly shit ?

Thanks, and a merry christmas to one and all
Ho, ho (etc)

My 10 year old started with a cheap one and picked it up after a couple of days practice. Soon got fed up with the cheap one though (bolts always coming loose, and the wheels started to disintegrate, which made for a rough ride), so went for a Razor Ripstik, which has been excellent.

My advice is to wear pads though - it is easier than it looks, but takes a while to get the hang of it properly.
