I'm looking for a new waterproof to wear hiking and spending lots of time outside in the pissing rain and snow over winter.
My budget is a bit crap though at just under £100 so are there any great bargains out there at the moment?
I wear a large so i can fit lots of layers underneath as required

over to the hive-mind 🙂

Joe Brown's in Llanberis/Capel Curig usually have some bargains in.
Well worth a call.

My current one was half price at £100 because it was last years colour!

The snow jackets on the Animal ebay shop were great last year, I got a 10,000mm waterproof one for walking to work which is properly waterproof (i've tested it a few times) and really warm.

Paramo seconds on ebay.
Picked up a Velez adventure smock last year for under your budget and it is an excellent piece of kit.
Keeps me dry and very warm.

As well as paramo, look up a user 'daz' something or other on eBay for Mountain Equipment seconds...

It's amazing what you can find being sold online, I bought this jacket from a place called Rokit in London, who do 'vintage' clothing. I've bought a Pendleton wool shirt from them, and this one was listed in one of their regular email updates:

It's US Airforce issue, Goretex, of a softer, less noisy type, with heavy Cordura panels on arms. It's what's called APEC, All-Purpose Environmental Camoflage, has a roll-away hood, loads of pockets, and it cost me £86, unworn, as far as I could tell. It's a fantastic jacket, hidden drawstrings tucked away inside the lower patch-pockets to adjust it as well.
I love it to bits for the money.
When you look at what a SuperDry showerproof jacket costs in a camo pattern, it's a total bargain. Worth looking around the net for ex-military gear.
[edit] Just found one a bit like it on Amazon for $104:

Mine was a bargain, I've just found several like it starting at $195!
Here you go, on eBay, for £64:

After having north face and tranemo for work (norwegian workwear) I bought a 29 quid waterproof regatta for work, looks smart and includes a removable fleece.

I work in all weathers and worked in hail and heavy rain/wind last week only with the outer on. Warm and dry when other lads were retreating inside. Wel worth the 30quid found on regatta outlet on ebay.

Army Surplus. I have a British Army Afghan issue goretex jacket and it's the most waterproof thing I own. I use it for fishing and it goes over my motorcycle jacket when it tips down with rain.
And I paid £30 for it.

This was listed in a newsletter from Flecktarn.co.uk today, which may be just the ticket, Austrian Army M95-style olive-drab Goretex for £45:

Thank you for the info, I ended up buying a Mountain Hardwear Plasmic Jacket for £60 from Cotswold Outdoor.

Used it in a couple of downpours so far and it's very waterproof. Whilst it is breathable it feels a bit weird against the skin due to the material. It could do with a mesh liner I think, but if you're layered up it's great. Weighs naff all as well and the hood is well designed.

I had a really good look at the army jackets but really i wanted something very lightweight and waterproof to throw on top of lots of warm layers.

Thanks guys
