@ElShalimo here they are anyway, just the 6 G's (and a Victorinox)

2 smart watches and that's my lot. Albeit I do want a Garmin Epix

And someday I'll get a Tudor

Very nice @bullet.  It seems to be a homage of a certain other watch, which I for one hadn’t appreciated the first time you posted it…

And happy anniversary, is it today 25th?  Coincidentally the same as mine!

"It seems to be a homage of a certain other watch"

Time for another pet-hate...

Not only is that not a homage, it's a much better executed watch than the one you're thinking of!

I genuinely think the vast majority of people would prefer the CW in a "logos removed blind tasting".

It’s a lovely looking watch btw

I needed (wanted!) a white faced watch to go with my others and initially got all excited by a Steinhart chrono that had a Rolex Daytona look to it. Then realised it was silver and not white.

The CW wasn't on my mind initially but got to look more closely and went from there. Guess there are a lot of similar looking watches about but I'm not in the market for a big spend now. More than happy withe Trident and think it will look great on the Amalfi coast next week 😀

Some good watches on the last page or so.

I’m not normally a fan of CW but I actually really like the one with the white face.

Don’t recognise the watch wait4me has, but that is really nice.

It's an SHD which was made in Besancon in the 50's. I've owned it for over 30 years now. Was my 21st present from my dad. Love it to bits.

Hypothetically (as I don't have £2.8k used/£3.7k new just at the moment)

I prefer the brown

But prefer the idea of developing my own patina on the bronze

Out of pure interest wwstd?

No, I haven't, but I'd be sure to before I dumped that amount of cash.

Yeah the Bronze is 43mm, but I like larger watches

Yeah I'm not seeing the cw homage.  It's the same colourway as several recently posted smp, it's  a dive watch.  It's far less smp like than other cw watches from their catalog.

Artist,  I like both and think maybe the slate but really do like the brown too.   You could get a brown,  remove the patina and start your own, it's simple to do with vinegar.

I really like the BB bronze, it’s likely the only Tudor I’d buy after I tried on a BB and it didn’t feel “special” enough for the money to me.  But that is a personal opinion.

Loving the macro shots! It really highlights the expertise applied to really small parts.  I watched a few YouTube vids re the Bucherer news yesterday, with the general consensus that Bucherer will become a predominant Rolex / Tudor booth and the possibility Rolex will withdraw from WoS.  Interesting times, and an interesting move from Rolex to create and even more controlled sales path to their supply.

Had a quick look through that GQ link a few posts back, and I really like the  https://mrjoneswatches.com/collections/all-watches Mr Jones watches.

Don't actually want to buy one, but I love the messing with the conventions that clocks/watches normally follow, while still packing it into the same form factor 🙂

The latter, I'm not a fan of smart watches for various reasons. You can disable the digital display to clean the watch up.

Liking the Oris.  Makes me smile and not only because my iPad wants to autocorrect it to “orifice” 😃

I’ve been retrospectively watching Seamaster 300m reviews after my purchase. Unusually for me I have no buyers remorse which is great.   I’m loving the fact its unofficial reference is “The Great White”, and that the watch on general holds up or exceeds a Submariner in a lot of opinions.  Also, there’s a hint that the manual HEV may go in future iterations perhaps helping this one achieve a future classic status.   Bizarrely as mentioned above it would appear to be the perfect piece for me indeed.

Really got the focus issues sorted now.  Last one I promise 😉:

I do seem weirdly fascinated by the depth of the indices.

It's a beauty @Kryton57. Such classy and classic watches. I might treat myself one day, but I fear I'd never wear it!

Also loving that G-Shock collection, a Mudman GW9000A was my go-to for a good decade for deployments. Coupled with a Garmin foretrex they left me with weird tanlines.

My much cheaper and less widely known watch arrived today!

Nixon - The Chronicle:

I like black and I like simple. Although I do have my eye on a rather bright Nixon 51-30 Chrono.

It always makes me smile when I read about this watch being 'better' than that especially in this esteemed company. Choice is hugely subjective and having both, I couldn't say which is 'best' just that I enjoy wearing both. It's especially daft when a £10 Casio is objectively better at their primary function 🙃

Enjoy it for what it is, a lovely piece of totally uneccesary man jewellery 👍

Me too, I do like Oris. Great watches and the brand seems to be steadily increasing its quality and recognition.

Sorry kryton,  the great white is an older seamaster,  the Gmt 2538.20.00 with a white face and steel bezel.  It's incorrect to refer to the current one as the great white.

10.5k  I know,  it's nuts isn't it!  I mean its a great watch and compare it to let's say....a bond seamaster which is another ti diver at 9300, it could look great value..... but as you say its 10k for a seiko.   GS are moving themselves up but! I'm just admiring it as a thing of beauty.   I liked the 015, the black tide, but this blue ushio is gorgeous!

Only in that the rest is naff too... Less is more for me (ironically) when dealing with this sort of extreme discretionary stuff. No gold, no wierd colours, no wierd straps. Boringly(?) brushed stainless and blue, black or white faces. Having written that, I do have a couple of non conformist buys. An Orange Monster cos it was cheap (looks like a clown's watch to my jaundiced eye) and a Breitling Chronomat Evolution with gold accents, a mother of pearl(ish) face and an aligator strap. It's a bit blingy/used car salesman for me these days (appologies if that offends Chronomat owners or car salesman... 🙃).

Aye, it's not my cup of tea, but that strap is meh.

A few of my friends have some rather garish special projects Breitlings and Bremonts. Not for me I'm afraid.

There is an EB in development that might interest me as they're often subtle and this one is specific to my career group.

I'll admire the high end watches from afar and stick with my Nixon's. 😂

The thing is, they are technically excellent watches - that one's an automatic movement, 5-day power reserve, and Spring Drive so accurate to something like +/-5s per month, and obviously in Ti etc etc. Compared to say a Rolex Sub, it's technically the better watch.

...but their residuals are horrendous, and fundamentally it's a (grand) Seiko, not a more storied or recognised brand.
Personally I love the SLGA021 - Evo 9, blue dial, glass caseback etc. But the price, and complete lack of any lume, put me off.

Time has come to sell my 2019 Rolex Milgauss Z-Blue as I’ve never really worn it much (excellent condition, all papers, box etc ) and could better use the money elsewhere. Any interest to folks on here? Seems like I’ve missed the peak of the market so looks like around £9k (but will consider offers with evidence of it being worth less)

The general consensus is definitely that the "square" is the one to have above all others but I'm with kryton on this, I much prefer the more interesting shapes to the classic.
The only one I have at the moment is a GD-350, mainly because I liked the vibration alarm. Unfortunately it's a model with the negative display and the stealth qualities are proving a bit of a challenge to my failing eyesight these days.

There's way too much misplaced admiration for Swiss watch making (IMHO of course), to some it's as if it's the only game in town, it ain't, and very often the watches are only assembled there with the parts made elsewhere.

The Japanese for instance have been making amazing watches for many decades but have been totally overlooked in Europe, someone up there mentioned Grand Seiko just starting to to make a name for themselves, they along with King Seiko, Seiko Lord Marvel etc have been producing amazing watches since the sixties, I'd have a a 44KS or 45 GS from that period ahead of pretty much anything else, in fact it's next on my list, their grammar of design ethos is a masterclass in watch design and carries through to their watches today, although they are a bit too fond of a date window for my tastes.

If only GS would do this in SS at a reasonable price and not £55,000 ish....

No.

I said 'GS are trying to move themselves up. '  They are pushing into a far higher price bracket.  That's different to making a name.   Making a name outside the wis world is also very different to making a name in they world, where I agree they are well known.

I'm a huge fan of Japanese watches and lucky enough to have a Sub too.
My latest Citizen Attessa makes my Sub look very pedestrian in terms of build and finish, but they're both lovely watches in their own right.

Some of the GS watches are stunning, and if I had the money, I'd definitely get one (GMT), and sod the brand snobbery.

IMO, It's all about whether you like the watch or not, unless your a flipper, which I'm not.

As you can see in my "to keep" picture, I've no issues with Seiko per se, and I'd love to replace on of those with a spring drive one day and love the story of the proper Japanese skill based process continuing from the Samurai era...

...although as I discovered recently on holiday I can't bear the thought of accidentally bashing an expensive watch against the side of a pool / boat / scuba equipment, so I'm all in for a decent mid level diver with a bit of patina in the collection.

On another note, I've never been a PRX fanboy but even so, yuck...

I've also expressed my admiration for Seiko in several posts.

The truth is I've only owned three automatic watches (the shame!) and all are/were Seiko.

If I ever bring myself to spend a LOT of money on a watch chances are it will be a Grand Seiko - if I can find one I like. I have to admit that is more difficult than I imagined.

I really like Grand Seiko, really nice watches - apart from one thing.

The font they use for the logo. It looks tacky. Particularly on a Japanese watch.

it shouldn’t matter, but it does.

(And I do like, and own, the odd Seiko)

Paris boutiques day pushed from Tuesday to Thursday. We celebrated my wife's 50th on Saturday night. My brother came up from Bergerac and, as he's previously admired and I don't wear it, I gave him my Sturmanskie Sputnik. Yes, a 'Russian' watch etc etc but that's not why he likes it.

OK, if we're doing holiday snaps. A rather vulgar Fenix en vacances in the Bourgogne...🙃

That was just some hair of the dog for my brother. I was absolutely hanging come Sunday lunch time but by dinner (another bbq) I did manage a cheeky stubby (beer bottle!)
