I have a Tag Carrera which requires a new crown, plus an Aquaracer which needs a battery replaced and a re-seal. Have used Chris Heal Watches in the past but their servicing is closed until 6th August. Where else is recommended as reliable and reasonably priced? Thanks
I've just used these. Fast and reasonably priced Ross Watch Repairs
Depends where you are; if in the South West, Deacons in Swindon, Royal Wootton Bassett and Marlborough are very good, they actually have watchmakers on the premises.
Not cheap, mind, but finding someone with people on the premises with those sort of skills is pretty rare.
I wouldn't trust Deacons, my dad dropped off a clock for repair and they sold it!!! Took a year before they admitted it, bunch of crooks.
Three different shops, in three different towns, one example of someone doing something iffy: a broad sample of their business practices?
Possibly not, I took my forty-odd year old mechanical wris****ch in, found it very difficult to find anyone local who could fix a watch like that these days, as it's an unusual French make, and they fixed it, serviced it and replaced the crystal, and gave the case a polish up, I had no issues at all.
That's just as broad a sample as far as I can see.
Duncan aka the watch bloke is great, I've used him in the past, takes really good care of everything and takes pictures of the service process, the only downside is that he has around about a 10 week waiting list

Proper watchmaker, wears brogues and a waistcoat.
Cost me roughly half of what Tag quoted for a water damage repair.
Alsal Watches on The Strand did a good job on my Rolex and breitling and weren't expensive either

Top job at reasonable prices.
Have you Googled 'C Heal watches' as there's some negative comments on watch forums etc?
Thanks for the responses folks, have made some enquiries with ones which offer a postal service, I'm based London way. First quote is Approx £150 for the crown repair - does that seem reasonable?

I have seen some of the feedback, that was another reason for considering alternatives. Having said that I've used them twice in the past without issue.
