We recently got a Zanussi one from John Lewis for about £280. and have no complaints other than the seal tends to capture our 2yo's socks so you get the odd soaking sock at the end of a wash that did not get spun.

My last two wash-dryers have been Zanussi, first one lasted 11 years and current one is 3 years old and still faultless - although I also get the odd sock-in-the-seal issue (about 1 in 10 washes).

John Lewis own brand - same factory as Zanussi, less choice of colours (who cares), more programmes, cheaper and 5 year warranty.

I've always bought Miele, but recently got an LG for another property. Excellent, not badly priced, and with a good reliability record.

We've had an LG for about 3 years and no issues to speak of.
I did need to re-seat the drum seal as it was weaping slightly. Putting it back on led me to cut my knuckle quite badly in the metal framework, but thats not the machines fault!

+1 for Bosch. Bombproof and not necessarily expensive.

I have a Miele, stupidest thing I ever did buying one. Came with a 5 year garuntee, useless, what chance have I living alone, of ever wearing out a Miele washing machine? It will last me forever great, if technology doesn't change but as it is changing constantly? I bought it because moving to a rural area I assumed meant higher repair bills? I had a gas fitter round 4 months ago charged me 40 pound to plumb in a gas cooker including the pipework and then did a bit of plumbing for nowt. Doesn’t turn out that everything is more expensive in rural areas. I am of course ignoring going to the pub where you meet these people.
Wherever to buy Miele or a cheap washing machine should be based on the amount of use it’s going to get. 1 of you definatly not 10 kids get Miele. For guarantees go to Domestic and General on the Internet they sell the majority of garuntees to the retailers. Go to them and you could get it 60% cheaper.
PS cost 410 pound although it was 6 years ago and never found anything in the seal other than my loose change.

Comet repair guy tried that when he replaced a fridge door, they then told me my wife told him just to leave it there, I was furious they tried to make my wife out a liar and told them if it was not picked up in 30 mins then it would be dumped at the door of their store , the door was picked up in 10 mins.

Zanussi have done us well but we have a Bosch now which has been good but only had it a year.
