Something from the likes of Howies maybe. There used to be a US brand called Scapegoat which was owned by Prana and did pretty much exactly what you're after - but no-one wanted it and they closed down earlier this year. Most outdoor brands make stuff that looks, well, outdoory really. I know some of the styles may not be to the taste of STW but my first one lasted 10 years and is still in one piece (not waterproof anymore though!)

Nope, he doesn't want to look like a rambler. Howies make waterproof stuff. It's an option. Fatface had a technical range for a while, not sure it still exists any more though.
