Have got a week off with the family in October (half term). Not sure where to go. Was thinking of Aviemore for some walks and some flat riding for the kids but it's a long way to go from the SE and so i'm thinking that N.Wales or the lakes could be an easier option.
Ideally, I want some ruggish countryside for walking, some flat cycling for the kids and some nice trails for me. Probably stay in a lodge or static caravan.
Any suggestions?

North West Wales. Mawddach Trail or CYB easy stuff for the kids, plenty for you to go at. There's a decent cabin place a couple of miles up the road from CYB.
I can't even imagine a drive from the SE to Aviemore with kids in the back..
