Its generally the other way round, you need to ask yourself if Canon and HP have drivers for Vista, head over to their websites to find out.

If you wipe the HDD and install XP, it should be on there...

Why buy one with Vista on it when you can get one with 7 on which is much nicer?

the local pc shop shop say the drivers maybe on vista , canon dont do vista drivers for my scanner. I hoped someone on here would know how to find out which drivers vista has. As it happens the scanner is serial port and wont the pc I wanted. Back to the drawing board for me.

as above, Id go for windows 7 if I were you.

Vista is not a grand step forward.

HP havent written drivers for all their stuff - for example my HP6310 cant do single button scanning that it should.

My PC is getting tired and long in the tooth 5 yrs old. Went from XP to Vista with a free copy I had. Wish I never bothered. Its stable, but needs so much resource to keep going.

Next one will be a barebones W7.

A further 0.3 seconds of clicking the link shows it downloading some sort of driver detective crap, probably riddled with trojans, worms and other nasties !!
