Hi,

The laptop has been slowing to a standstill all morning ....... and I eventually needed to hard reset. It would start up OK (though gives me options for safe mode etc) and then run for approx 5 mins before stopping again.

To try and beat the 5 mins ...... I decided to restart it but it gave me the option to install updates and then shutdown.

I chose this option 2 hours ago and it still says "installing update 1 of 2" and the hard drive light flashes very infrequently. I'm going out in a mo and may well leave it on - all night if I have too.

Does it sound terminal?

What harm can I do if I power down during the update process? Can I wind the clock back? I reset the laptop to factory settings a few months ago - should i do this again?

Cheers,
