After a long long chat to Virgin today to get my package cost down, I was told about their money saving offer which started last year, by where you pay for your line rental 12 months in advance and it only works out at £10 per month instead of £14.99.
They said they sent info about that out, but I cant ever remember seeing or even hearing about it!
So, here's a linky if you want to easily save nearly £60 a year :)

Im sure some people will know about it, but it was news to me.

Most providers do and offer it to their existing customers....

Can you do that with the landline even if it is part of a sub to one of their tv/broadband packages?

Weird that this info is popping up all over t'internet forums. Is it one of those weird things like poor old Morgan Freeman being dead ? You know, not that interesting and not that funny. And the one about the difference between ships and boats that went around a few years ago.

We have just had a chat with Sky and swapped to them from Virgin.

We were paying just under £60/month for 20mb broadband, phone eve & weekend and tv family pack (no TIVO box or anything).

Sky have done it for £25.87/month (Unlimited broadband, phone but not free evening and weekend which is of no concern as the landline spends most of its time with flat batteries) and the Plus box with entertainment pack and 2 months free movies)

This was in addition to paying £119 for a years line rental as above, but overall not a bad deal in comparison to what we were paying

(I don't trust BT with £60 of my money upfront !) Just seems weird to me that people are getting so excited about this on forums, it's no big deal really, and I've seen it on 5 forums now, and no I'm not posting links to proliferate this nonsense.

bland, this is the ad from Virgin that got me a bit annoyed. I was getting really pissed that new customers were always getting better deals than me, Ive been with Virgin for around 15+ years.
My latest bill was £57 with XL TV & Phone and 10mb BB (that apparently included a loyalty discount!!), after 40mins on the phone Im now getting the essential bundle for £34.
I dropped down a TV level because its just repeats all the time and the phone too, but now I will get a TiVo box (Virgin wanted to charge me extra if I wanted to add that to my previous service!) 30mb BB, Wireless hub, and that's when he told me about the cheaper pay yearly phone line payment.

Helen, I don't really understand what the issue is!
In these times, I think paying £120 a year instead of £179.88 (if you pay monthly) sounds like an easy bit of money saving and quite frankly, if you see something wrong with that, then you may have other issues 😉

Are people getting excited about it? Seems to me people are just sharing a way of saving a bit of money, which can only be a good thing. I've a Virgin Media customer, and haven't heard about this, so someone has done me a favour by posting this.

and no I'm not posting links to proliferate this nonsense.

Is anyone asking you to? Don't understand why you think it's nonsense anyway. Unless you know something that we don't and that Virgin aren't honouring this claim.
