Hi,

I want to set up a web site containing some basic How-to tutorials for using certain IT systems. The tutorials will be in video form and I could do with some advice on what software to use and where to host the videos.

I have tried a couple of video capture products including NCH Debut (ok but does not seem to record in a decent format) and Ezvid (ok but cannot store videos locally - only upload to Youtube). Any suggestions on what I could use? I do not mind paying up to £50 for the right product - this rules out Adobe Captivate. Requirements are that it records in a Youtube/Vimeo compatible format and that the video can be stored locally for editing before upload.

The second query is about where to host the videos. Is Youtube ok and is there any advantage in going for Vimeo? - the latter seems to have less garbage hosted on it but I prefer the way embedded Youtube videos look. Is it possible to control what the static content of a video looks like before the user clicks play and also what links are shown when the video finishes?

Thanks

Fraps is what my lad uses. It's free. Whether that is enough for you I don't know.
