Just slice together the interesting bits so as to save people like me with no kids who have to sit through endless videos of nothingness a little bit happier? 😀 It really is a simple concept I feel.

As SR said

ruthlessly edit everything into clips then wack some music over the top and it'll probably make itself

Like this

but with less bikes and more family

Music.. hmm.

It's footage of most of the kids between the ages of 0 and about 4, so I'm thinking Marylin Manson would be good.

Just not looking forward to having to watch these hours of footage - I've already flicked through it once 🙂

Try Dominic Miller - First Touch CD - seems to work on almost anything

Lol 🙂

I think most people will find it interesting, since the intended audience is mostly the parents or grandparents of the kids involved.

Our neighbours had a professional photoshoot for their new baby who's now 10 weeks old. We went round there and they showed us the DVD, 10 mins of naff music and fades between very recent photos of a kid who was right there in front of us.

Odd!

Watch some of Ingmar Bergman's classics; in particular 'The Virgin Spring' and 'Silence'. As well as Koyaanisquatsi, Baraka, Leni Reifenstahl's 'Triumph of the Will' and Akira Kurosawa's 'Ran'.

Then put something together which reflects the genius within those masterpieces of the cinematic medium. Hey presto- perfect family video! 😀

Heh!

I got tasked with doing a wedding video once. 4 hours of interminably boring raw footage. Had to produce a 30 min video. Utterly soul destroying. Got very bored, almost lost the will to live, then went a bit manic and got a bit 'creative'. I think Kubrick himself would've been proud of the disco scene in particular. Discovered an effect that emulated some of the hallucination scenes from 'Jacob's Ladder'. Imagine, pretty bridesmaids' faces melting, with slowed-down audio....

I was quite pleased with it.

I understand a couple of the relatives were a little upset. However, the Happy Couple were well pleased; loved it! 😀 Well they did have a quite unique wedding video....

Lol for real 🙂

So far I've got about 10 mins edited down to 5. Basically it's of a kid running about and being cute.

The real challenge is going to be the 157 clips of my own daughter doing various stuff from the age of about 1 month to 18 months. I have considered trying to get as many images of her face that I can and making a video of it growing and changing, but that's beyond my pay scale...
