Searching reviews, all I keep coming back to is a Dyson, but shirley there must be decent, well built cleaners for less?

Any personal recommendations (must be an upright & still available to buy!)

Ta.

There are these things called 'bagged' cleaners which are great for about 5 minutes then clog up with dust and become asthmatic. 😉

Sebo X4, suckier than a sucky thing. Looks a bit crap but they're very good indeed.

i have a Henry (not an upright but better for stairs) and they are the best VFM thing around. Sucks like Jordan in front of an open cheque book

Do a search on here - there was a pretty good thread about vacuum cleaners a week or two ago.

I've been very happy with both my Vax's. After the Mrs. managed to break one we replaced it with a Bissell which is total sh!te. Don't go anywhere near them would be my advice.

Why upright - never quite worked out the advantage of them over cylinder.

I used a Sebo at the weekend, but a cylinder one (K3 Volcano?). Never heard of the make before but very impressed (well, as impressed as one can be by a cleaning device!).

Had our Dyson DC08 for five years and it stopped working when I was away last month. Wife bought a Henry to replace it and its good too. The Dyson only needed a £20 motor to fix it, nice workshop cleaner now!
