5 out of 6 devices won't connect.The one that does indicates that the actual USB is working. The 5 non connecting devices connect to our old laptop.
I've done the USB reset with no joy.
Any ideas?

plug device in, switch off mac, switch mac back on, it might recognise it properly then. It might not too.

I have USBs that won't work on Mac and some wont work on some of my PC. I don't know how many or what old laptops the OP has. Sorry
Tried Mackem's idea . My iPod said it was charging for about 2 seconds and then nothing.
Tried some other devices and no joy. My samsung phone connects as does my nexus.
