Im being dim, Im sure, but there's bound to be someone in here can shine a light...
Bricked my SSD netbook this week. Trying to reinstall XP from bootable USB. Hangs mid install so want to test that the SSD isnt borked by installing simple DOS onto the SSD.
Ive got a bootable DOS on USB. Can boot my bricked netbook with it but how do I get that DOS onto the SSD to have a go at booting the netbook on its own (and so test the SSD integrity)?

How about downloading a small version of linux (DSL?) to the usb drive then installing that. Then you can do some proper tests.
because i wouldnt have a clue how to use it. (and this dog's too old to learn penguin)
or run a full chkdsk scan from DOS
can't you just run checkdisk from the command prompt you have?
good idea, but just tried that and cant find the SSD....
will use the XP boot stick to go and partition it....
(it can do that before it hangs)

You'll need the install files on the USB disk.
I'll email you a copy 🙂
Once you've booted onto the USB disc, navigate to setup.bat and it should start the install.
