Hi all,

Struggling with Word repeatedly crashing when opening on my Mac. Checked Excel, which is version 15.23.1, which I know is pretty old. I assume all the other Microsoft apps are similar age. When I do the - Help > Check for Updates, it doesn't come up with any updates to install.

Can anyone tell me how to manually update Office or Word? Can I download an update for the latest version?

Thanks,

Duane.

In the Windows world there's a check / repair option you can run where it'll do a file integrity check.  Is there anything similar in the Mac world?

My version of office (which may or may not be 2016, I can't remember) uses the Microsoft Auto Updater.

Just downloaded the latest Microsoft Auto Updater (from  https://support.office.com/en-ie/article/update-history-for-office-2016-for-mac-700cab62-0d67-4f23-947b-3686cb1a8eb7)

Checked for updates, it found an update for Outlook, but nothing else. I will try manually download the update for Word (also from the above link) and see if that helps.

Thanks,

Duane.

Any use? I’ve not used my MacBook for along time.

If you download and install the software again it will give you the option to repair the installation.

Word and Excel on my MacBook is v16.11. These are from Office 365 subs

You ideally need to do the install/repair.  Re-run the setup program for the version you have.  Even if deleted, Office now recognises the license for the machine if you install it again - my son regularly wipes his gaming PC, then just re-installs office as MS recognises the PC as licensed.
