I keep getting an error message flashing up every minute or so. It says 'error interpreting the response from the server'. I've googled the message with no results. No clue as to what app is doing it. I think it might be to do with a message I tried to send from dropbox using gmail that didnt go but I have uninstalled dropbox and forced gmail to stop but it still comes up.

Have you tried turning it off and on again?
Updated any apps recently?
