Is this complete shit?

Or is it fine for a 5 year old? Or is there something clears really bad about it that another one would be worth a choice (queue links to Ukulele twice the price)

Miss OTS plays uke. Tiger is a reputable, if budget brand, it should be ok, especially for a complete beginner.

If it's anything like the guitar from Tiger that arrived in our house as a present. It's just about ok but the case is a POS and fell apart almost instantly.

You'd be better with a Donner or a Kala IMHO (I have a Kala and it's good but around double the price of the Tiger you linked to). Think Donner are in between the two.

The main issue for me with cheap ukuleles is getting them in tune and getting them to stay there for any decent length of time. Music will never sound good if you're out of tune all the time.

I've got two Ukes, a decent-ish Kala one and a cheap one, I think it's a Mahala one like this one

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Mahalo-MK1TBU-Ukulele-MK1-TBU/dp/B00MWRYYJ2/ref=sr_1_7?keywords=ukulele&qid=1638355639&qsid=257-2097313-8185314&sr=8-7&sres=B000GG4B1C%2CB06W9GN7ZK%2CB00MWRYYJ2%2CB07QK1DMLZ%2CB003AIIT20%2CB08H7JGFKL%2CB08FBYGX78%2CB08FX9WHST%2CB015XD4YLY%2CB07V1ZB89J%2CB0969GBRT4%2CB078KD5MCV%2CB07NJ8Y8RP%2CB078XXGJPW%2CB01N5LXD0K%2CB076KFB49J%2CB089NLQBW9%2CB073W8ZYPB%2CB07SFTZF8L%2CB01N0OKMZC&srpt=STRINGED_INSTRUMENTS&th=1

The cheaper one is actually alright. It feels cheap, especially the tuners, but it plays well enough and there are no sharp edges. It can stay in tune long enough to play something, though by the time my 6 year old has heavily strummed it pretending to be a rock star and accidentally whacked it against the bannisters, it does need re-tuning. I'm not sure that's a fair criticism, really. It's also a reason why I am glad I didn't spend more...

I hope you have better luck getting your 5 yo to be interested though, mine (6) won't attempt to play it. I'm trying to get him going on the piano instead.

Yup, agree with this. My youngest has a Stagg uke which holds its tune for about the length of time it holds her interest. It wouldn't be acceptable to me if it was mine, but it's not! 😀
