I've never really noticed this before... does the bottom of the page often have google ads for threads on STW? Does that mean stw has to pay per click for traffic from its site to its site?

I clicked one. Sorry.

Was just about to start a thread on this very topic! Seems to be advertising forum threads as click bait. Not good, IMHO.

Looks like someone adjusted the settings so at least its front page page content rather than forum gum bumping thats being clicked through to - and its images relevant to the topics (needs more spurious red circles and arrows pointing to nothing though.)

But I still think the expectation if you're paying for advertising is the adverts appear somewhere other than on your own website. 🙂

Probably a case of adverts targeted to the users browsing history rather than association with the site.

There's enough of this rubbish on Facebook without it turning up here...but it did raise a smile when I saw Mr Angry with his tubeless woes 🙂

I did think the pictures were being generated randomly to go with the thread titles - now wondering if an actual human is involved 🙂

Yes, but you'd normally have an exclusion list of sites not to appear on. Such as hardcore porn, or your own site.

You'll probably be able to pay extra, like PremierPremier, to not get adverts for your own threads. The plebs will end up disappearing/reappearing in an infinite feedback loop of self-advertisement.
