What are you on about? It just sits there in the corner for me, does it do something? It's hardly obtrusive?

It's even on the advert itself it's a bit my first advert, think the webdev needs to google a bit harder for new ideas for advertising ๐Ÿ™‚

Beats the big flashy boxes and conforms to the wishes of most people who complain about ads. Its small, doesnt get in the way and doesnt flash or make noises. Sounds perfect to me.

Jeeze,cant please anyone!

Re res - mm might have a point, I'm running two at 1650x1080 so it is pretty tiny to me.

It would be ok if you could cancel it after you've read, but it's a static image something more dynamic would be better, the adverts to the right and top are less in intrusive in my opinion, but you are correct you can't please everyone ๐Ÿ™‚

yes, it's a case in point. I complained about flashing ads till I got banned for it by an irate Mark, but I never even noticed this one as it sits in the unused gutter on the left, and even now I know it's there I don't mind it...

coffeeking - 1024x768 here you would have appear to have an abundance of screen real estate so I suspect it doesn't matter, shan't try it on my netbook ๐Ÿ™‚

Think my laptop runs 800x600 max on a 12.7" screen, I might give it a try for a chuckle ๐Ÿ˜€

A little bit irritating - will it increase the number of people signing up for the Classic Weekender or not?

It's broken for me on the iphone (Safari). Appears at the bottom of the screen rather than the bottom of the page, which means it pretty much blats over the middle of the threads.

I can't see any mention of 'spectator's tickets' for the Classic Weekender. Gets my vote.

it completely screws up the page scrolling! not to mention its in the way if I want to clik on a thread link near the bottom of the page.

DOes anyone bother with user testing before unleashing awful junk like this on the world?

Doesn't bother me too much (Safari 3) but on my MacBook I found that coming to the forums drained my battery much faster than normal. Then I counted up to six flash videos on each page. One or two I'll ignore or read, but six were causing the fans to kick in and the machine CPU got hot all the while. Hence ClickToFlash on Safari and Flashdance on Firefox.

If they were static images then no probs, though.

Stoner - I'm running FF (no probs), Chrome (no probs) and IE (no probs). I reckon that covers something like 95% of potential users?

Works fine on Windows Mobile IE, but the image over-lays the thread title area on Opera Mini (running on G60 S3)

The problem is it doesn't work on an iPhone as it appears half way down the page.

Its quite obtrusive on a small (Netbook) screen

Because it has a transparent area which is bigger than the turned-over area, you can click on the advert while thinking you're clicking on something else. Annoying.

right then. I've changed it so it's just in the bottom corner of the footer.

The best way to get rid of it is to enter and fill all the places!

...and it still won't show on internet exploder 6 if you're wondering. If you are on IE6 then read this: http://www.bringdownie6.com/

Where's it gone? It was a little obtrusive on my iPhone, but I can't see it at all on here (OS X + FF) or the iPhone now.

Tell that to my company. Though it's nice to see there are some advantages to being forced to use it ๐Ÿ˜‰
