On one of my many trips between Sheffield & Todmorden I've driven randomly around and up a cobbled road which I'm trying to refind it as my mate is doing silly hill climbs but I cant for the life of it remember where it is.

If anyone knows the moors between Holmfirth & Ripponden then I need your help.

You drop diagonally down into a steep sided valley, uphill to the left, down to the right.
Half way down I think there is a stables or maybe just a farm with horses.
I'm fairly sure there is a post box at the bottom near a large stone house.
As you climb the road becomes two strips of cobbles and curves slightly right.
At the top as it flattens out there is a road to the right and behind you to the left into a private (I think) road.

I know this is super vage but any help is apreciated.

I immediately though of Stainland Dean but I don’t think it fits your description 100%

I’ll keep thinking about it if that’s not
right!!

I am sure it used to be cobbled as you went up the hill going west but street view shows a tarmac road, maybe it’s been resurfaced?

It’s a very steep climb!

My first thought also, Steele Lane.

Yeah, Stainland Dean, dropping NE -> SW.
You go past a couple of farms then a small collection of houses at the bottom, the final one on the left is a big stone one.

It then becomes Steele Lane, parts of it are cobbled, parts tarmac. At the top it becomes Bank Royd Lane / Clough House Lane.

There are a few tracks around there like that - have a look at the Ronde Van Calderdale Sportive route, that goes up a lot of the local cobbled climbs (inc Steele Lane) so you might recognise it from that.

Greetings from Stainland - there are a few roads like that around here.  Most farms around here have horses in some fields.

It does sound like you dropped down Forest Hill Road into Stainland Dean and climbed up Steele lane - the private road is Frith House Lane

Oh my goodness, I wasn't really expecting any replies to this but you've nailed it. Thank for that, my mate will somehow thoroughly enjoy beasting himself up there.

Pretty sure that’s on the Huddersfield half marathon route. Have unpleasant memories of running up it. Tough course.

Find the ronde van calderdale route and knock yourself out.  Cobbled climbs aplenty 🙂
