Myself and the family are about to spend the summer holidays riding down the Balkans. We need somewhere to park up the van for 4-5 weeks roughly on the Slovenia Italy border (i.e Trieste). I'm currently drawing a bit of a blank other than rather pricey airport parking. Anyone have any clever ideas?

What about the marina? When I was sailing around Croatia, we just abandoned our cars in a marina car park. Quick google suggests there's three yacht clubs in / around the city, mail one and ask? info@ycadriaco.it
you could also try along at the cruise terminal.

We use campsites. Quite common in France known as "garage mort", have a look at some campsite websites or give some a ring. We paid 3e a day for a car last week in Lozere, my sister 5e a night for her motor home on a local campsite so long as they weren't in it. It's usually very cheap out of season and more pricy if available peak season.
