Off to my mates stag do in Bristol on the 18th July and planning to head there early (about 4.30am) that morning from Nottingham.

Is that the day after schools break up? And hence will the roads be chokka? or is that just a myth?

Any advice appreciated.

M4 to Bristol is usually clear, but if I were you I'd avoid the M25
Go M1, A43 past Silverstone, M40 to High Wycombe, (J4???) then A404 and pick up the M4 and away you go.

🙂

Cheers - shouldn't take too much longer, maybe 40mins.

M1, A42/M42 then M5 is the way to get to Bristol from Nottingham, you should be fine that time in the morning

Where possible I do most of my long distance driving at that kind of time, it's actually quite relaxing.

Route as ebygomm says.

Some guys are taking the train rather than risk it. How very ironic.

Cheers guys.

PeterPoddy can't figure out why you'd do A43, M40 then A404 to get to M4! Get A43 to M40 for 1 junction then down A34 to the M4 .. join it a lot closer to Bristol than if you went down the M40.
