I started a new thread rather than post on the Yellow Jersey thread to widen it out. Reading the FCA website gives some insight into why some people do not totally trust travel insurance companies. Like the complaint the FAC upheld where a holidaymaker had a claim refused for being intoxicated at the time of the accident. He had told the insurer he had only had one drink. On investigation the FCA found that the insurer possessed a hospital report with a blood test showing alcohol at half the UK driving limt.
On the other hand the complaint was not upheld for an fall where the insured had a blood alcohol level 4x the UK limit. can't reallly complain there can you.Â
My personal grumble is having to wade through acres of small print to check wording on helmets. Not an issue for most I appreciate.
I'm pretty sure your average travel insurance won't cover you if you fall off and hurt yourself on a Scooter - saw a lot of people hiring them in Italy, but at lease they had a lid on. Friends hired one in Thailand, no such safety equipment of any type.
Gofundme is the new travel insurance.

Yup, one of the reasons that I couldn't enjoy the offer of riding one of my mates bikes in Malaysia - none of the insurance we looked at covered anything above 125cc
