We will be in touch
Hello!
Just got a couple of new TP-Link powerline adaptors so I can get Sky Anytime + and so Mrs C can use her laptop on the dining room table. So I plug 'em in and they all work perfectly.
BUT - I need to get into the WiFi one and secure it, so nobody steals my already really slow broadband. And I can't. Plugged it into my laptop and stick what I think is the HTTP address and my laptop can't 'see' it. Both laptops are work supplied so I can't install the TP-Link software to make it a bit easier.
Any ideas IT gods????
Thanks!
C.
I'm not 100% sure what you mean about the 'wifi one' but they are secure as they're paired units. I use them, great bits of kit.
Assuming your master router and dhcp server is at 192.168.0.1 open a command prompt and paste:
FOR /L %i in (1,1,255) do @ping -n 1 -w 100 192.168.0.%i | find "Reply"
Leave it a few minutes; The IP address of your TP-links will be one of those above.
Cheers both..... managed to fix it without TP-Link customer services. Maybe I'm in the wrong job? 😀
*EDIT* thanks RJ, that's kinda what I did.
And Gary, you're right they are very superb. I got 2 * wired ones and a wifi transmitter one.

Nice bit of command-lineage there, RJ.
An easier (and quicker) way of doing the same thing is with LookAtLAN - needs an install but is GUI-fied and 'nicer'. Useful tool to have in the arsenal.
