As if anyone could better Paul Verhoeven's (sp) original. It's a real classic.

I hate it when films get re-made (sorry, the current buzzword is 'reimagined'). Name a film where the remake was better than the original.

Anyone?!?

Thats cool, all they need to do to make a super movie, is get rid of Arnold and its on to a winner.

I can only think of 2 movies with Arnold where i dont get iritated, True lies and Terminator.

Perhaps it might be remade a little more like the book which is far superior story to the film

I agree that this is a bad idea

but the remake of "The Thing" is much better than the original B&W film

and "The Fly"

About 3/4s of the way through my first watching of Total Recall I realised I knew what was going to happen next because I'd seen it before...

Is the Seven Samurai a better film than the Magnificent Seven? Or just different. (I love them both!)

And I truly think that Total Recall was a stream of steaming p, so it would be difficult to make a worse film than the original. All they'd need would be a couple of actors who can in fact act. Some half decent special effects, not just a red tinted lens, and some nuance and subtlety that the original so badly lacked - was it all really in his head or...... No he really was the all action hero.

Anyway, a decent story will always stand up to being remade plenty of times, good or bad as the film may be.

I hate to be a film snob but I'm reeling at idea of Total Recall being a "classic" and "sacred"!
It's not as if they're remaking The Godfather is it?
Are you worried about a possible Showgirls remake?
Okay, so I'm a bit of a film snob.

A remake of Total Recall could be amazing, but will probably be worse than the (good but not great) original.

Where were you when they announced that they were remaking The Sweeney though? There's genuine cultural vandalism for you. And utterly pointless because the BBC already did it with that Life On Mars crap.

Remakes better than the original? Infernal Affairs / The Departed.

not really Arnie's forte, which is more looking butch and shooting stuff up :o)

Still can't believe how awful the remake of Assault On Precinct 13 was and having seen the trailer for the new Taking Of Pelham 123, that doesn't seem to have fared any better

Both classics and should have been left well alone

As for Total Recall, not exactly a great, but Ms Stone was hot, hot, hot

I beg to disagree. Apparently James Cameron is still remaking (ruining) Gunnm/Battle Angel Alita as a live action film. Now there is a sacred piece of work.

camerons avatar has a 3hr 10 mins run time

recall is a brillint film, its got a 3 breasted hooker in it!!!!!!!

some classic scenes and some hilarious moments

like verhovens robocop and starship troopers u luv em or hate em
and his imagings of the future are grounded with an acknowledgement of commercialisation and the seedier sides of life

recall was supposed to shoot with michael j fox emphasizing the psychological aspect of replacement memmories (ver much like the original philip dick novel) but he pulled out and they rewrote it for arnie making it a more physical action film

so there is potential for a dark psychological sci-fi with ancient alien artifacts, interplanetry spy agencies and corporations, mutant humans and maybe if we are lucky a 3 breasted hooker

will probably suck though

also on the way is robert rodriguezes reboot......Predators

and ridley scott tellling the story of the Navigator found in the beginning of alien fossilized to his chair

also on the subject of navigators, flight of the.. is also being redone

Total Recall a classic are you on drugs?

Watchable cheesy action film maybe but not a classic.

Ooops forgot to give you a remake better than the original.

Casino Royale.

Why not just make a film of one of Iain M Banks's books? Use of Weapons gets my vote 🙂

Plenty of good stories to bring to the screen, why keep making sequels and re-makes?
