Still makes me laugh at times and they still have some good episodes, but I have felt its been over contrived for the last few years.

It is what Sky+ and the FF button is for.

5 mins of watchable stuff in 1hr of TV.

Was worth it for that rally section alone tonight. The stig was flying.

Ain't really been worth watching for the last 2/3 years. I occasionally dip in to see what's new......nothing.

the cars they have on are nice to hear and look at
the script it poor, childish and badly delivered
it's worth having on in the background while you're eating your tea, but that's about it

BAM! Stig cutting across the grass to take the lead on the rally stage - it had me grinning from ear to ear.

It's stupid, puerile, contrived and has 3 really annoying tossers presenting it.

It is very entertaining, and is one of the best things on TV.

But that's all it is, entertainment. For sunday nights you can't beat it.

Watch it, laugh and forget it.

Want serious, watch newsnight.

Worth watching to see the 288 GTO spit flames out of the exhaust and the stig in the rally car on the last corner. Still though wish it was more of a car show, they could have cut everything in it and just done lap after lap in the 288 GTO then spent the rest of the time having the camera sweep round it. That would have been ideal for me! Watched Clarkson's latest DVD and it was like an episode of TG used to be, lots of cars you want to see and a bit of grass roots racing at the end. You do occasionally get a good episode though, the 24hr endurance race one is still the best i've watched.

It bollocks. I see it and really grudge the licence fee. The missus LOVES it though, she finds it hilarious.

Glad to see they haven't lost their ability to offend an entire country with their inane nonsense; or should I have just laughed along at the anti-Mexico stuff?

Occasionally very entertaining. Hoping the new series will improve....

Does need a few more cars that mere mortals can aspire to.
Is it just me - but I suspect cars like the 205GTi, Golf MkII 16v, Clio Williams etc wouldn't even be mentioned....

The best thing on the telly, period!
The Aussie treatment, their upside-down driving, the "James" driving a Proton, the whole lot. I love it!

I quite like it.

It's like watching a dog trying to hump a cat.

You know it's wrong, but you still find yourself watching it.

It hasn't run its course yet - it's still the BBC's most profitable export.

Sure, it's contrived and childish these days, but most of the time it's still imminently watchable (IMO). Fifth Gear on the other hand is still totally shit by comparison - shit presenters (VBH excepted), dull items, and generally just tosh.

Tony Mason.

Top gear is just terrible of late. Has been for years now it seems. I just can't stand the forced "acting" of the presenters and the horribly contrived situations they "find" themselves in. Occasionally it's very good, the polar special for example, but usually way below that. Tonight was 50 mins of drudgery and 2 minutes of bliss looking at and listening to the 288 GTO.

VBH makes me rub my thighs. She can drive, she's got a great laugh and she's a lot of fun.

/rubs thighs.

VBH is the worst thing on 5th gear and the reason I don't watch it. She has a really irritating voice, she can't drive properly if her life depended on it, and that laugh makes me want to behead her.

Funny how we differ

VBH ... can't drive properly if her life depended on it

Would love to see you take her on in a race (actually, no I wouldn't, as I'm indifferent about you, and don't particularly like VBH, but you can't claim she's not a good driver).
