Morning All,

I'm struggling to fit a pan connector without it leaking...

I'd much appreciate it if someone could answer my few questions:

the soil pipe is set at quite a steep angle and the back of the toilet is straight - does this mean I need a flexi connector?

If not, I'm going to try this one next - https://www.screwfix.com/p/mcalpine-macfit-mac-4-wc-20mm-offset-pan-connector-white-90-112mm/36108

I'm hoping the slight offset will make the joint easier. Should I be using any sealant/ lubrication on the inlet side?

Thanks in advance

Dave

I had a similar problem several years ago and used a flexible outlet connector that was secured with two massive jubilee clips.

Edit: just found the old order and it was one of these (and only one clip!)

IANAP but I just did this a week ago. Ours comes out then turns 90 degrees right before entering the soil pipe.

I didn't use any sealant or anything. It was a difficult fit initially so I used a little bit of shower gel to ease it on. Bad idea, as it made it slide off-wards. Got rid of it all and just persevered.

Spot on now. No leaks. The main issue for me was access and getting enough welly onto it in a restricted space.

Spot on now though. I checked it all with an endoscope camera as it's all behind a wooden T&G panel.

I got this one which had a good degree of flexible section allowing a comfortable turn.

Either this one https://www.screwfix.com/p/mcalpine-macfit-mac-7a-wc-pan-connector-white-110mm/105hr
If the soil pipe is at an angle or the flexible one with a jubilee.
No lubricant on the pan spigot but you can use some on the end that pushes into the soil pipe.

Is it a new pan? I had this a couple of years ago fitting a new bathroom, every morning I was finding a little puddle on the floor. Worked out the bog was porous in the end. I filled it with water and a bit of blue food colouring to find this out.

Thanks Bear, I was thinking that one, this will be my third connector now...! I can't find any flexible ones with jubilee clips on, will I need to venture out further than Screwfix for this? All the flexible ones are way too long that Mclpine do, is there another go to brand?

Thanks again,
Dave

Sorry I missed that! I need something much shorter in length. Cheers though
