Something that often comes up is what people remember from school, and one thing is oxbow lakes. Well here’s geographical forces in action, an oxbow lake forming. I’ve been watching this for a number of years, and with all the rain lately it’s speeding things up a bit. Someone tried to stop it with a couple of steel stakes and a sheet of corrugated metal, but to no avail!
Last night I had the pleasure of joining with friends and former colleagues to dine out a good friend and fantastic leader exactly 22 years to the day he joined.
The location was extra special, the senior rates mess onboard HMS Victory.
A guided tour before dinner from the Officer of the Watch followed by good food & drink and even better stories about the guest of honour.
One of the perks of the old job I thoroughly enjoy.
Took advantage of a spell of dry weather to get out for a spin on the SS, destination Lacock, and fortunately the Avon hasn’t spilled over its banks too much, the only place was Reybridge, where it was shallow enough to pedal through without getting my feet wet! I could have used the little causeway, but where’s the fun in that!

Even more rule bending/breaking. Found an entire folder of photos from 2023/2024 that I'd done nothing with. Not taken today, but finally processed today.
