if you've got the gear, the tunes, and the restaurant has a licence, do you need one yourself?

No but you should submit a list of all the records you've played to the PMRS, or whatever they're called these days.

Of course, all DJs do this, and the ones who don't are caught and sent to prison for a very long time. 😉

Depends on whether of not you're playing vinyl or digital

please don't

you'll spoil the customers nice quiet meals

djs should only be tolerated on the radio and in nightclubs 😀

oh and at weddings, and roller discos

but never in a "bar" - never ever ever

Ask Richie "Deej" McCoy - semi pro mountainbiker and pro DJ.

What grievoustim said. I beg you, please don't do it. I have walked out of one restaurant because of it, and wouldn't hesitate to do it again.

IIRC it has something to do with if your paying off original's or copies.

On the other hand, no one I know appart from club residents (and not all of them) have one.

I wasn't aware of this either! I use vinyl though so I think I'm safe (not that I'd buy it anyway)
