Any one else getting a distinct lack of signal / no service from T Mobile in the last week or so?
Or has my 3yo dropped my iphone 1 too many times....?
I live in Poole and have tried both Tmobile and O2 but as am in a dip no joy with either calls keep dropping.
I am going to buy a mobile signal booster from these guys
http://www.mobilesignalbooster.co.uk/o2-mobile-phone-signal-booster/
will let you know how it goes.
I'm in London so have never really has a problem.... until recently. :-/
I've got a friend who works for them and mentioned something about them planing to switch off 200-300 mast this year in a cost saving exercise.
Kryton - are you having T-Mobile probs everywhere you go - or just at home? Transmitters can break down but they are also targets for copper thefts (and out here in the sticks the transmitters are also run off generators so the fuel can get stolen)
If there has been a distinct drop in signal at home give them a call and report it.
Also have you set up your phone to pick up Orange signal too, now that T-Mobile and Orange have merged? If not check the T-mobile site and go through the motions, you do that your phone will pick up an Orange signal whenever the T-moble one drops
maccruiskeen - Everywhere I go, and yes set to recieve Orange also. Mrs Kryton is receiving more "Orange" coverage these days which may backup 29erKeiths statement, but I just get no Signal / no 3G in a whole variety of random places that I used to get it before a week or so ago.
The masts that are being turned of are redundant cell sights. Both Orange and T-Mobile are removing sites that are not necessary any more because there is an Orange and T-Mobile site in close proximity to each other. It's not cost saving at the expense of service.
Cell sites do go down, report it. If you speak to technical support they can check the site at your postcode to see if there are any reported problems. If you have 5 recorded instances of time/date and postcode where you had problems then you log a fault as well if one has not already been reported.
If its everywhere then it could be handset or sim card related and simple tests can be done. Sim in a different handset etc. to see if problem is reproducible.
You can do it in store as well but it's more hit and miss because the sales consultant may not be as knowledgeable in dealing with those sorts of issues.
WeirdNumber if it's a site share then yep agreed shouldn't be any difference to anybody but in a lot of instances they won't be so yes there may be another in the area but! some locations will now be further from the next site so get a degradation in service.
I was on T Mobile and moved house, the TMobile signal map showed "good" signal in my area however I couldn't even connect to to the network at all
I spent hours on the phone over a few weeks and tried every combination of sim in 3 different phones and jumped through every hoop imaginable and they still wouldn't release me from my contract even after getting through to one of technical guys who said looking at his site maps he "wouldn't expect me to get any signal at all!" and that yes the map on the web site was frankly "wrong for my area". had to pay £200 near to get out of it and they refused to update their misleading maps. If their maps said it was rubbish then fine I moved after starting the contract fair enough but no signal is a long way from "Good".
