MegaSack DRAW - This year's winner is user - rgwb
We will be in touch
I love this place
Quicksilver jeans - £24
Diesel T-shirt - £10
Ben Sherman T-shirt - £9
S.Oliver jacket - £40 (rrp £159)
Albeit I do believe they over-exaggerate the rrp's slightly
You going to a fancy dress as a chav ? 😮
Picked up a 2 year old, £400 ski jacket in the High St Kensington branch the other day. Just the sort of jacket I'd been after as well, a nice subtle shell with decent pockets and good venting.
For £45.
Which was nice.
TK Maxx for clothes you wouldnt want to be seen dead in
Most of it is tat, but if you time it right the 'outdoor' rail often has craghopper, merrell, prana etc. stuff.. picked up a £200 eVent jacket for £30 a couple of years ago..
frogstomp, +1
I've picked up some great Montane and Patagucci stuff over the years. I think the key is to both time it right and not to expect anything. If you go in wanting to buy a specific piece of kit, you will be disappointed. If you get lucky, you get lucky!
if your an odd shape tkmaxx rocks ...
30 waist 34 leg - 14 quid for some carhaart jeans !
the annoying thing with TK Maxx is their tendency to put the security tags right through waterproof gear
you can get some nice stuff though if you time it right

Regatta, Craig Hopper, Karrimor - I'm happy to wear this kit, if you not, well your loss.
Again there is lots of tat I don't even browse but the out-doors kit can be pretty damned good
(store dependant - locally Worcester/Merryhell are good, Kiddy's one is rubbish).
just come back from tkmaxx now... animal jeans, £19.99. also they have muc off stuff in at the moment
Might have to hit up the Cambridge branch this weekend and see what they have. Got a nice Crumpler laptop bag for 30 quid the other month...
Quicksilver/Ben Sherman/Diesel
😆 charver!
?????
Ah, sorry I forgot - you're supposed to wear outdoor clothing all the time to conform on here.
Or, be 50 before you're 30.
You can often get nice cheap socks in TK Maxx, but there's very rarely any clothes in there i'd want to wear. Having said that i did buy some Vivo Barefoot shoes for £25 in there last year, which i was quite pleased with.
Great for jeans less so for other stuff but sometimes you find something perfect.
Carhart jeans for £8 the other week.
TK Maxx for clothes you wouldnt want to be seen dead in
there really are some cockends on this forum sometimes. Explain what you mean by that statement?
Ben Sherman hahaha
TK Maxx, for people with a discerning eye, too smart to pay full whack, time rich enough to be able to sort through the kack, who don't dress like a geography teacher or a blind man with cruel friends.
Well delivered iDave

I wouldnt ever want to be seen wearing the brands (quicksilver, diesel, ben sherman etc.) that TK Maxx stock, even if I was dead!
If you want cheap and dont care then go to asda, tesco, matalan etc.
TK Maxx stock overpriced branded clothes for people who dont have a clue about dressing well. Middle of the road sort of customers with no class or no style.
Come on then taylforth, divulge your tailor.
TK Maxx stock overpriced branded clothes for people who dont have a clue about dressing well
Do you honestly think all tk maxx sell is 'quicksilver, diesel, ben sherman etc.'?
Ha ha I Dave, beautifully put. If only they stocked bikes! In the past I've bought some great stuff from there, oh and anyone who actually does know about fashion layers stuff together from loads of different shops. Its not cool to ask the lady in next to get you the hole outfit that the mannequin is wearing in the window 😆
TK Maxx for clothes you wouldnt want to be seen dead in
I have bought quite a few beautiful Katherine Hamnett tops from there.
david living up to the tayl part of taylforth i see!!
Do you honestly think all tk maxx sell is 'quicksilver, diesel, ben sherman etc.'?
Honestly, no. But any of the other brands they stock fall under the same sort of "category" by association.
And having to shop in the same place as the quicksilver wearing types means my "shopping experience" is severely worsened.
The less people who like TK Maxx the better for me.
It's already a lot more popular than it was a few years ago, with less bargains available.
TK Caxx
As I mentioned earlier, the jacket I bought is made by S Oliver, a German company - it's a vintage military style in a heavy cotton/canvas material and the cut is really nice when on - should have been £159 (supposedly).
Quicksilver - what's wrong - they are a sports/casualwear brand. They are a normal cut, stonewashed jean.
Diesel is not chavvy
Ben Sherman, nothing to shout about, but you can't see the label - it's just a nice v-necked tee.
I buy clothes from TK Maxx, M&M Direct, Next - I have a fantastic shirt from there, pretty much anywhere that has decent looking clothing at a reasonable price.

Funny!
I got a nice Campag base layer in TKMaxx and some Rohan walking boots.
You can't knock it. (well, you can, but you'd be alittle bit silly)
I'm still waiting to hear what taylforth wears.
I'd imagine it may be along the lines of a good friend - always well turned out in a pair of smart shoes, straight legged jeans, a collared shirt and a Ralph Lauren sweater, or similar.
He turns his nose up at the more casual wear of others and generally gets laughed at for his troubles. He looks like he should be on the golf course - all the time.
I bet he drives a Jag. 😉
The TK Maxx types are generally a bit insecure and are perhaps worried about "fitting in", thats why they buy branded clothes with company logos emblazened across the front, and TK Maxx is the cheapest place to get them.
Why not shape up and get some confidence, dont worry about what your chosen brand/logo says about you, instead buy clothes based on colours/fabrics/styles/fit. You'll get some bargains at 2nd hand shops or oxfam et al.
Wear your clothes with confidence.

You wear chinos, a blazer and sport a fine silk cravat.
I give Quicksilver a thumbs up as Natas Kaupas works for them. If you say 'who?' then that just about sums you up.
What brands do you wear out of interest kingkongsfinger?
I dont do brand's or fashion's just good quality clothes that are reasonably priced, for example "Crane" 🙄

I agree, there is nothing more awful than a chap wearing labels top to toe, even worse if they are 40+ years old.
I must say I generally won't buy T-shirts from TKM due to the huge BRANDING labels all over them - just screams tasteless to me. I do however buy most of my jeans and jumpers there, because they're cheap and not covered in the makers' brand names. Also had a few good pairs of shoes off them over the years....

Try asking my wife if that is true about me. When she pops in and has a look at stuff for me, she knows to absolutely NOT buy anything with big logos on because I hate them - I don't want to be a walking carrier bag advertising a brand.
Try again.
😛
The TK Maxx types are generally a bit insecure
I would have thought those that put other people down for wearing certain brands are the ones who are insecure. Clearly you have issues.
I'm struggling to think of more than a couple of items of clothing I own that you'd have a clue what the brand is, also.
Most of it just happens to be a lot nicer than you'll find in Asda, or Matalan
I would have thought those that put other people down for wearing certain brands are the ones who are insecure. Clearly you have issues.
I'm trying to be an inspiration for people - be happy with the clothes you wear and dont worry about what other people think about them.
2 x Duck & Cover jeans (external pocket) £35 each.
😆
I don't think anyone would be able to tell what 'brand' of clothes I wear unless they were a fashion tart. No labels on show, no emblems emblazoned across my chest. Clearly DT has some insecurity issues. Maybe he'd like to dress in stuff you don't get in the next aisle to pot noodles but lacks the confidence.
dont worry about what other people think about them.
never saw any hint on the thread of people being worried about anything, esp what others think about them.
So, you're trying to justify being a tramp now taylforth?
What is it, cravate, or stained trench coat?
And having to shop in the same place as the quicksilver wearing types means my "shopping experience" is severely worsened.
reminds me of:
Personally, I don't worry about what others think - I wore a flat cap last time I went for a night out, much to the amusement of some of my mates.
I got plenty of complimentary comments through the night though and the girlies loved it and kept nicking it to wear themselves.
Montane jacket (the featherweight(?) h2o one) and montane velo trousers, £8 each, bargains. Buffs/snoods.
Tommy Hillfiger tailored suit - £120
Good for socks, gloves, underwear.......why pay 'full price' at other outlets no matter how flush you are? £5 £10 £15 £20 always better in your pocket than the shops.
Some of the homeware ok too.
People who dont shop in TKs for social reasons WILL NOT shop in Aldi either, fact.
The people putting down TK Maxx, it sounds like you haven't even been in one!
Half of the brands in there I haven't even heard of (my Wife often has, she keeps up with these things), but they are good quality, well designed clothes at low prices.
2 x Duck & Cover jeans (external pocket) £35 each.
are they inside out?
People who dont shop in TKs for social reasons WILL NOT shop in Aldi either, fact.
I wouldnt buy clothes in TKMaxx, but more than happy to get food / tools etc from LIDLs/ALDIs.
I'm trying to be an inspiration for people - be happy with the clothes you wear and dont worry about what other people think about them.
I don't think anyone on this thread, apart from you, is the slightest bit concerned what others wear.
Some people seem to be under the impression that all clothes in TK Maxx have big brand names emblazened across them.
I you have no idea what you are talking about, isn't it best to saying nothing?
I'm trying to be an inspiration for people - be happy with your middle class prejudices and dont worry about what other people think about them.
FIFY
So far we've learned that davidtaylforth shops at matalan & oxfam for clothes, doesn't care what people think about the way he dresses and is an opinionated know-all.
You are tandemjeremy and I claim my £5
Of course if you were truly secure (iDave and artist), you'd give not a shit about what somebody else thought of your taste in clothes.
As an aside, G-Star Hi-tops...serious no-no.
"As an aside, G-Star Hi-tops...serious no-no."
😆
Do you think he's related to that other taylforth: the in-car entertainment system?
Speaking personally I tend to wander into TK Maxx every now and again to pick up clothes for work - although my wife tends to refer to my smart casual dress style as Clarkson chic, which I'm not sure is a good thing...
You are tandemjeremy and I claim my £5
to be fair to TJ, I seem to remember him posting a pic of himself looking rather suave in formal wear - TJ in a DJ. For all I know he might look like a tramp most of the time, but he scrubs up okay.

TJ isn't a nauseating snob...
I'm trying to be an inspiration for people - be happy with the clothes you wear and dont worry about what other people think about them.
You're not, I am and I don't. 😉
I'm very insecure and need brands emblazened over my chest ... but I don't care 'cause I got one of these dirt cheap

ag, nae photos ... bike related clothing...
TK Maxx is ok, but you always need plenty of time to find anything decent as the stock is presented about aswell as a jumble sale. I much prefer outlet centres like in Bicester and Swindon as things are laid out like a normal shop and you can still pick up some bargains.
What I have noticed is there aren't as many bargains around as a couple of years ago, I think companies are being cautious with the amount of stock they bring in so there isn't a huge surplus to get rid of at the end of the season.
you'd give not a shit about what somebody else thought of your taste in clothes
I don't. I'm just fighting online prejudice and persecution.
I wore a flat cap last time I went for a night out
I read that as cat flap on first read.
But anyhoos - aren't flat caps actually meant to be trendy now? Or has that one passed? I gave up keeping up ages ago.
In fact the last lot of nice clothes I got were from Matalan - two really nice polo tops for £4 each in the sale - lovely thick knit, keeping their shape well, look fine with jeans or combats, easy to throw on. And after about ten minutes they are normally covered in baby saliva etc so I don't have to stress about ruining expensive stuff.
I can't abide those outlet places - we have one near us off J28 of the M1.
As has been said earlier - no point going to TK Maxx looking for specifics. I'll trawl 3 or 4 rails and grab a few things to take to 1 changing room.
The outlets, you have to tackle 3 or 4 shops and still not find anything suitable.
I got some nice plain merino/cashmere jumpers for £15. the kind of stuff that is £100 at Howies. They looked nice but the merino one has bobbled.
Agree with most of what is written above, it does uncover some bargains, you have to have some patience and I wouldn't be seen dead in Ben Sherman or Diesel, Chavtastic!
Good tags at the top btw.
I'll take chav over geography teacher
combats
LMFAO.
Flat caps? I was walking up Drury Lane with elfin yesterday afternoon when we saw a lat model mini (not the estate agent's one) with 3 very obvious tourists wearing flat caps being driven around on a touristy steamed up drive round central London.
I can't be bothered to go to TKMax because they're not in very convenient places.
Any combats!!
LMFAO
Don't joke - it's a war out there.
I'd love to see some photo's in everyday dress of those who feel qualified to take the proverbial out of anyone's choice of clothes on here.
I bet some of you look like right dicks/boring farts.
My Diesel tee is pink btw.
Any combats!!
No? Really?
Shit, I am gonna have to go out and do some shopping tomorrow.
Tell me what I have to buy please.
😉
May the snobbery continue.
I love the shop - but then I like a bargain. It's the luck of the draw usually though. Some recent ones:
Peak Performance softshell - £275 to £70
Marmot jacket - £260 down to £60
Zegna suit - £750 to £200
