good tile blade for my grinder cost about 60 quid.....

done 2 floors nicely with it now.

done right you shouldnt ever see the cuts anyway - cut edge faces the wall ALWAYS

what does the saw offer that a grinder blade doesnt other than taking up heaps of room to store when not used (unless your a tiler to trade of course in which case the time saved might make it worth it)

wall or floor tiles?

Floor tiles, good quality diamond blade in the grinder

Wall tiles, this thing has taken more abuse than any tool rightly should have to put up with.

Wet diamond wheel cutter, so easy to work with. Ive done five bathrooms and 3 kitchens with one.

Did the angle grinder last time Trail Rat, too much mess and dust for my liking ( I've got Asthma ( is that a song ?))

and cheers Stoner

EDIT: Floor and wall, I really did not want to DIY this but the quotes from tilers were very high I guess they are busy with better paying less fiddly jobs.

you know these tile saws are just a fixed grinding wheel right ?

Get your self a ruddy mask. - a propper one , not a paper job.

edit. ah the one you linked to is a wet cutter.

I bought a cheap cutter after hiring a industrial one for a weekend. The cheap one was the price of a weekends hire. That was 16 years ago, still going strong.

Like Stoner's, mines done kitchens, bathrooms and lots of floors. Best value for money piece of kit I think I've bought.

Just borrowed my Dad's while doing our bathroom. So much easier, albeit creates a bit of mess.

I've got the Erbauer saw in the OP, as well as an old Plasplugs one.

I bought the Erbauer recently to cut large-format 10mm porcelain floor tiles. The original blade with the Erbauer was rubbish - the edge of the blade was rounded over (from new) resulting in it chipping the face of tile. A replacement blade (also a cheap Erbauer one) had a nice square cutting edge and is massively better.

The Plasplugs is OK and still works but wouldn't stand a chance with the thicker/harder tiles. It is, however, much smaller to store and easier to carry around 🙂

Don't be tempted to use it without proper eye protection.

Thanks everyone

-M- I bought the Erbauer in the end as the tiles I have are massive as well.

Jon a good reminder I will stick some next to the machine to remind me for tomorrow.

Hopefully I will be able to this indoors so i don't have to keep running up and down the stairs.

I have one like the plasplugs one. But I prefer a conventional score and snap type for straight cuts. A tile blade for my jigsaw does fantastic cuts around pipes.

The Plasplug ones are really good and take loads of abuse. I've got a big slightly rusty professional cutter if anyone is interested for peanuts, it's not been turned on for a good few years so unsure how it is functionally.

Rubi make some decent ones. Might be able to get one close to £100.

Where are you based? I am just about to start tiling a bathroom and may be interested.

I'm no Pro but for straight cuts the Rubi kit is pretty good. I did our kitchen recently with A borrowed Rubi and a little diamond blade for the grinder. The blade was less than a tenner from Screwtoolfixstation.

Newport/Cardiff.

Won't be over there for a few weeks and I will get it in the neck if I don't get started on the bathroom!

I am in Bristol.
