Has anyone thought it is all a marketing ploy?

marketing? From the Mint? They dont sell anything? In fact they appear to be giving cash out for free.

I think you'll find The Royal Mint aren't offering £50 at all.

Well spotted. However still not sure its marketing, or how you make a business from buying 20ps for £50.

Well, by marketing, I mean promotion. Perhaps I am being a bit dim here - but they DO like to promote their new coins and the like. I just saw it as self-prtomotion.

eh? but you only get £50!

I thought I had one last night, but it was just a different design one that had the date somewhere else.

I'm not in marketing, but I'm not sure that announcing you're recalling something because you've royally cocked it up, is necessarily the best way to promote it.

Im a bit confused, i've got this one here and they are selling it for/trying to sell it for £39!!
Its got a date, so is this just someone trying to con people?

A few are on Ebay at bin £1000 but that doesnt mean they are going to get that much.
The £50 is a company called the London Mint that will buy them for that knowing full well they are worth more. £200 seems to be a pretty standard ebay price at the moment.

Some have gone for over that, £5,800 was the highest yesterday.

Reports now say it went for £7,100.

Why does it now appear that every 20p is worth money?

People seem to be getting around £5 for a standard 20p!! with no date on the Queens head side, which from looking through all the 20p's i have, is how they are made, as they have a date on the other side.
Does this mean i've got around £100 of 20p's???

Is anyone else tempted to shove their 20p on E-Bay and see what happens?
