I was hoping for a bit more well-fired, armour played pastry so it's not quite that but still. I get weird joneses for particular things- bran scones, frinstance- and a pork pie was the last thing that tempted me off the diet and it is good to have them back 😆 Washing it down with a Cheddar Ales Wild Thing.

(when I was just going onto the diet, I went to the Reading festival with my brother and declared it the last weekend of normal eating. My brother went into town on the sunday and says, do you want anything from the shops? Yeah, get me a pork pie. No, get me a 6 pack of the little ones. OK, he says. 2 hours pass and he brought me back a ****ING PICKLE LATTICE PIE, the total ****.)

So you're just avoiding gluten, and not a coeliac?

There's an FB group for coeliacs rating these products and where to get them, I don't do FB so I can't do a linky

A) It's wrong - a pork pie sold in an 'effin box.

B) That photoshopped pastry does look quite good.

I'm confused. Does it still contain mechanically separated hoofs?

Nah, I am coeliac- but was asymptomatic, it was picked up from a blood test rather than from symptoms. So I had the luxury of going onto the diet gently, gluten was ****ing me up but it wasn't making me immediately ill. Once I was on the diet though I lost all my tolerance, I suppose the plus side is that it removes temptation 😆

@Tubs, I got this from Sainsburys, they've got some other new stuff. This same company does quiches and they've expanded their own brand a fair bit. Still not quite as good as Tesco IMO but the 2 complement each other.

Just picking up on the Ale, I used to think I was turning in to a lightweight, honking after 3 or 4, alternate bullet turds and liquid squits... Nah, good old intolerance!
Strangely enough I can still manage the odd sandwich a week without wanting to pull my own skin off afterwards.
Weetabix is a big no no for me too, that's instant pain, which is a bummer as I could have happily lived off that stuff as a kid

It's a good time to be getting into the gf beer! Especially if you like IPAs, loads of them out there . Not cheap but glutenfreebeerstore are my friends now- they do a range of their own and sell tons of others.

It could certainly change your waistline size, if not eaten in moderation. 😉

I've just remembered what changes everything, we were all told ~28 years ago by Michael Ball, it wasn't pork pies...

I bought my old man one of those universal remote controls. He's absolutely stoked with it, "this changes everything!" he reckons.

It's all coeliac systems, there just wasn't anything obvious- usually you find out you're coeliac beause you're noticably unwell but I never had that. It was picked up as part of bloody testing at a diabetic outpatient's clinic and confirmed with a biopsy.

So I had the gut lining damage, and as a result food malabsorption issues- calcium deficiency leading to osteoperosis was the big one. Basically selective malnutrition.
