As title, seems a bit warm this morning and not showing any signs of action.

can these things be fixed economically our just buy a new one?

If its a cheapish one and its the compressor (it was on mine) then its not an economical repair.

What make? we had an "american style" from samsung die after 4 years which was replaced for free as it was a known issue with the model

Lucky you! Our Liebherr fridge packed up two months after the guarantee expired. The repair would have been more expensive than a new one. Unfortunately the days of fridges lasting ten+ years are over. 😕

not lucky we googled the fridge model on the internet and found loads of people had the same problem which then brings it under the known problem at manufacture six year rule

It's a 6 year old servis, wasn't that dear.

It seems to have woken up a bit, for now. maybe it was on a very lon defrost cycle? The freeze was still frozen, but deffo not -18 and the fridge felt pretty warm too.

I thought it would be uneconomical to be honest.

thanks for the comments

Mine did exactly that, noticed stuff going soft, assumed it had packed up and binned a load of food saving what I could in the chest freezer - left it overnight and it was working perfectly and has ever since. I think you're right about it being defrost.

When ours seemed to not get cold enough I phoned a repair man from the yellow pages and over the phone he told me to defrost at least over night if not longer as ice can build up behind the back panel in the freezer section that is hidden. I removed the panel and he was right, loads of ice despite the freezer being of "frost free" model. I let it throughly defrost, put the panel back and never had any problems since. Worth at least speaking to a repair man before throwing your fridge/freezer away?
