I have absolutely no need for a Land Rover Defender, I cannot afford one, I do not have the ability to take on the ongoing maintenance, passenger safety for my kids would be terrible, I drive one often and know the driving position is rubbish, it woulc cost loads to run.

Despite all of this, I really, really want one.

Does anyone else have completely irrational wishlists?

I would really like a massive, inflating throat-sac like a gibbon so that I could attract a female from miles away through the dense jungle with my haunting songs of lust and longing.

You realise you'd just end up looking like Hugh Scully?

I want new job, right now, before I do actually need one.

Yes but it changes daily, park stool is today's irrational want.

Pioneer SCLX58 AV Amp - current Onkyo amp is getting old and a little flaky, still works though.
Some Q Acoustics speakers (floorstanders and the fronts, while I'm there might as well go for the rears and sub too) - There's nothing wrong with my current set of speakers by the way.
A new home laptop, preferably ultrabook spec to match the pace of my work laptop.
A new tablet, Nexus 7 is no longer responding to touch, so essentially useless, phone works fine, but I still want something slightly larger.
A Weber smokey mountain 47cm version, probably wouldn't use it much, but still really want it.
A geared commuter, just for days like yesterday when the wind is right in my face, essentially it's a flat commute though so single speed is fine usually.

I've always had an un-healthy want list, I'm just greedy 🙂

A utilitoe. Figured that my index toe being so much longer than the others is quite plainly a wasted opportunity. It could modified with some multitool facility so as to open beers, remove tyres with a swift sideways kick, fit a spike for litter-picking etc. Endless possibilities.

And this. Oh I want this so much it hurts:

Bionic pancreas.
Some semblance of balance on a bike.
My hair from when I was 20.
One of the new carbon GT Zaskars to sit next to my 1998 one.
Extension to the house to allow the new Zaskar to sit next to the 1998 one.
Lottery win so I don't have to work and can ride a bike more.
I'll have one of those monkey throat things above as well now I've seen it.

A tidy garage so I can start fixing up bikes in it again.
The MR2 that a local garage has for sale at the moment.
The VW Caddy Max that another local dealer has for sale at the moment.

Kryton, I'd argue that the original question was "Things that you do not need, but really want" and that Kylie is something we all NEED in our lives 😉

Thing is all the stuff I want is stuff I really need;

fat bike, full sus, camper van, decent 'man cave' type bike shed.

All stuff that I couldn't possibly live without!

Do you mean a toaster shaped to look like a Cylon, or a device for browning their shiny metal carapaces?
I think either would be a nice thing to have...
