Afternoon folks,
I've been gazing out of my window this afternoon and have seen what looks like vapour trails in the sky but seem to be in a diamond format and spread out to form something that looks like a mist or a cloud.... Very unusual and something i've never seen before.
Has anyone else witnessed this? Very strange.
Aliens?
Probably a cloud.
EDIT: Most likely altocirrus.
headfirst, they are in a diamond or grid pattern. I dont know too much about clouds, but i doubt they can develop in to a grid shape pattern!
Defo not Altocirrus - its far too precise.
Con-trails from planes flying in different directions, with no upper atmosphere winds to disperse them so they accumulate. Or as per my first post.
Could well be if thats the case, the flight paths must be visible when there's no wind
....if i could take a picture i would, it looks weird!

Maybe they are Cloud Seeding, in preparation for the Olympics... Or not. 😉
where are you...have a look at a current satellite picture and see what they look like from above. Plenty of open cell convective across Southern UK at moment - but that doesn't sound like what you can see.
Where are you? Maybe someone else is within 50 miles and can take a pic for us.
