That’s the season done and dusted, surely?
Does a massive goalkeeping howler count as a goal from open play? That’d be a first for Arsenal, particularly from a forward who hasn’t scored since the last ice age
Great result for City but, if they win at Burnley it only ties them on points with Arsenal.
But with probably better goal difference and also the better in the head to heads.
It makes it a 5 game sprint to the line. And here's the form guide of the last 5 games, on the basis confidence and momentum is vital.
Arsenal- LWLDL F4/A6
City- LWWWW F12/A3
I know who I think are favourites
Yeah, I think there’s scope for some twists yet. Arsenal were decent today, and an inch or so from going 2-1 up.
Sliding doors moment with Wirtz choosing Liverpool and City ending up with Cherki. What a player! And £80m cheaper than Wirtz.
Looks like Leeds are safe then?
It does, especially with the run-in we have, but I am not taking anything for granted. It's the next two games that will tell us if we are in for a nervy finish or not.

Assuming Citeh beat Burnley to go top, I'd say Arsenal have an easier run in for the last few matches (in theory).
| MW | Arsenal | Man City |
|---|---|---|
| 33 | - | Burnley (A) |
| 34 | Newcastle (H) | FA Cup semi-final |
| 35 | Fulham (H) | Everton (A) |
| 36 | West Ham (A) | Brentford (H) |
| 37 | Burnley (H) | Bournemouth (A) |
| 38 | Palace (A) | Villa (H) |
| TBC | - | Palace (H) |
But my money would still go on MC, because Arsenal.
Of the BBC pundits - the only one that doesn't think City will win is Rooney - I reckon this is down to his obvious ManUtd connections & the fact he is an idiot.
Looks like the league will be decided by goal difference, as both their run ins on paper should be maximum points.

Nah, we're fine. No chance Spurs win three out of five and we fail to get another point.

I'd like to share your positivity, but anything can happen.

I reckon one of them will get an unexpected draw that will cost them the title. My head says that will be Arsenal, my heart is still "anyone but City again"
It will be decided well before goal difference is looked at. I think with 2-3 games to go.

You mean by justice being served on 115 charges of cheating presumably? 😉

Or maybe there will be justice for the 1919 dodgy decision to promote Arsenal despite them finishing in fifth place in the last season before the war interrupted the league.
Save Spurs and relegate Arsenal who have been playing in a league that they bribed themselves into for more than a century 🤨

Even by STW standards, that's some grudge to still be holding.

They were, and they didn't. That's the key for me, they were even gifted the goal they did score. Their goals have dried up, 4 in 5 games now. Their xG to G over the season is 1.1, but last 5 games is 0.8
That more than anything else will be the downfall, if you aren't scoring then you don't win, if you're only scoring a goal a game you're at the mercy of the other team getting a set piece chance or a worldy or a deflection or whatever. And it'll be 'unlucky' but.....
(cf City - over season 1.1, last 5 games 1.8 gpg at 0.98 - not exactly a spree, but over the course of a season if xG is calculated right then should be close to 1. Arsenal are 20% below that)
Stating the obvious, but they massively miss Saka. They also need to get their set piece mojo back! Their run in actually looks much better than City’s and the opta supercomputer has them at 73% chance to win it!?
Yeh, that's true. But the opta computer ain't that super. There was an article on the radio about it, what it does is compare the relative positions of the teams playing each other, and nothing about the current form of the teams. And right now, that's a one horse race.
This Chelsea implosion is rather fun!
They're absolutely rock bottom of the form league with no goals and no points in the last 5. That's worse than Spurs, lest anyone be in any doubt how shite they are currently.
I liked Rosenior as a player at Reading, but have 'always' (well, since JT days) had an innate dislike of Chelsea, so to see him go there was a sad moment. And then all that bollocks about respecting the ball by huddling around it (do they still do it, because it sure as hell ain't working) and defending the surrounding the ref bit - get in the sea.
I don't know what Enzo Fernandez was doing stood in front of the fans after the game, looked like he was trying to either stare them down - are they not rightly furious as wasting their money on that? - or find some inner motivation to say '**** this shit, I'm off'
But also take nothing away from Brighton who with no real star names put in a shift each week and were brilliant last night.
I do feel a bit sorry for Rosenior as he was a good player for us (Brighton) and started his coaching career here. I always thought at some point he might end up as our head coach, but I think that ship has sailed now. Pretty sad seeing a lot of his ex team mates coming out the woodwork on podcasts to stick the boot in too.
The turnaround for us since Feb where we were playing pretty poorly and hadn't won in 6 games, to now winning 6 from 8 has been pretty remarkable. There were a lot of supporters who wanted Fabian out after the Palace home defeat but he's done a great job turning it around.
It was especially enjoyable to see how bad Sanchez distribution still is, he refused to be backup keeper for us when De Zerbi dropped him for not being good enough on the ball to play in his team and Chelsea were mad enough to pay £25m for him.
If Villa win the Europa League - and assuming they finish top 5 - I think 6th gets a champions league spot. Could be anyone’s! It’s really tight and competitive just now between the majority of the league other than the top few and bottom few.
Of Chelsea, if they do fail to get CL football, does their whole model implode? Most of their players - and Rosenior - are on hugely lengthy contracts.
I think they are in trouble either way. It seems the spending is finally starting to catch up with them.
Chelsea were mad enough to pay £25m for him.
I think we should all be grateful to Chelsea for paying over the odds for our rejects. Nobody could believe them offering 40 million for Garnacho, but obviously snatched their hand off and he's been warming the bench at Stamford Bridge ever since, despite him thinking he's Ronaldo 🤣
And we replaced him with Mbeumo, which was something of an upgrade

Brighton are a fascinating club. They seem to have built an excellent structure where several managers have thrived and built reputations that exceed their actual abilities - thinking of Potter in particular. They also have identified and developed some excellent talent. Just wish that they could have beaten Spurs!
To be fair, they should have beaten Spurs, who were very lucky to get a point out of that game. Brighton have some quality players though. Danny Welbeck is in the form of his life at 35 and keeps banging them in for fun
That Chelsea game was so boring I watched a GCN video instead.
As a Leeds fan, I am worried about what Chelsea's reaction may be on Sunday. However, on watching last night's game, I think we have the players to batter their back line.
I don't think there will be a backlash from Chelsea following that defeat - they were unlucky with Utd, but showed no hope against Brighton.
Having Rosenoir come out & slag off the players I don't think will help either.
And the Chelsea fans were being pretty vocal about what they thought of Rosenior, but then they do like sacking managers
All in all a pretty toxic environment, it would seem, which is a shame with them usually being such a nice club
I’ve just read that Rosenior has a contract until 2032 and if when they sack him they’ll have to pay him 24 million quid 😳

Not in the ground there wasn't, couldn't believe the amount of empty seats!

They've lost 5 in a row in the league and not scored a single goal. I find it unlikely they'll get some drastic turnaround on Sunday especially if he drops a load of players who didn't perform which would mean playing a load of kids judging by their bench last night. Still don't fancy our chances but I'm a Leeds fan - I've learnt to predict disappointment.

Agreed. But surely Sunday is the best chance we'll ever get of getting to an FA Cup Final. It would be hilarious if Man C field a bunch of kids (with one eye firmly on the Premier League), and Southampton nick it, setting up a very unexpected Leeds v Southampton Final – the replays of the famous 1972 match would be everywhere in the run-up 🙂 #It'sAlmostCruel
Well, with Rosenior gone, it's anyone's guess for Sunday. MOT
24mil for 3 months work (somehow an exclamation mark here
just doesn’t cut it) - nothing rewards failure like footbal.
Been reported that they have a break clause and they won't have to pay 24m. Still crackers though and very funny.
and just like that, City go top.
If I could post pics I would share a few images of the amazing experience that was Borussia Monchengladbach v Mainz from Sunday evening. Pre game in the fan zone area was tremendous and watching the Ultras section behind the goal for 90mins was probably better than some of the game! Non stop chanting and singing every minute of the match. Smoking and drinking in the stands caught me on the hop! I've been at Eintracht for a game before but I don't recall smoking going on.
The fan zone was awash with Bitburger Pils and Bratwursts, a big screen showing the earlier games and fans just sat around chatting. Ticket was €30 and as usual includes local travel to and from game via bus and train. Highly recommend a visit to a german game if you get the chance.
For the conspiracy minded Toon fans, my flight home on Monday from Dusseldorf at 12.30 to Newcastle had me sat right in front of Nick Woltermade and his mates.
Another cracking result for Leeds. Bournemouth this season are tough cookies.
Really hope Iraola doesn’t go to Chelsea. He seems too decent. Give it to Brave John Terry.
Saw an article about him losing the dressing room on the bbc and the leaks about the line ups. Apparently Marc Cucuerella’s barber was to blame. He has a barber!!?!

Yeah, we were lucky to get anything from that game, but we've been on the other side of results like that several times this season, so I'll happily take it.
Just when you thought this upcoming World Cup couldn't become any more corrupt and farcical....
The way it's going, would anyone bet against them actually doing this? The 'Mericans just don't seem to understand qualifying for things on merit any more than they understand the concept of promotion and relegation
Really hope Iraola doesn’t go to Chelsea. He seems too decent. Give it to Brave John Terry.
I saw something about Terry throwing his hat into the ring til the end of the season and he was told "thanks but no thanks" and basically that hell would have to freeze over for him to be the manager under that ownership. Seem to recall something similar when Maresca walked, Mcfarlane got the interim gig and Terry got the hump that he was left with the u21s or whatever it is he does at Chelsea (I assume its the equivalent of being on benefits and they just keep him around out of courtesy).
Leeds - brilliant. Tough to go away to these league one grounds sometimes.
Does he have a reserved parking space with "Englands Lionheart' on it? Or does he just park in the disabled spot?
As a lifelong Holte-Ender I'll be standing to watch Villa play Spurs on May 3. So instead of the usual "You've seen the Villa now **** off home!" and "Tottenham get battered everywhere they go" chants I guess it'll be tuneful renditions of "We'll meet again" and "Goodby-eee". Better start revising the words.
