Any ideas for a 40th birthday present? Six months away but I want to get saving!

Difficult to answer without knowing your wife.

Could you ask someone who knows her well? You perhaps? 🙂

More seriously, what are her interests? For some a special piece of jewellery may be ideal. For others, a new bike.

Has she been dropping subtle hints? Staring in shop windows?

I bought her an eternity ring two years ago so that's out the window. I was thinking of a holiday but that's for all of us and not just her.

That's the sort of thing I was thinking of.

How about a nice watch? (I guess that's more of a man thing)

Does she like jewellery?

Sorry to ask such a question but is your wife happy about being 40?

(I wasn't and didn't celebrate ... although I relented 10 years later )

Get her a tattoo? That is one on her body not one on yours.

Good point. You may want to cancel the fireworks display.

Takeaway, couple of bottles of wine and bang her twice, it's the little touches that let her know she's special 😉

I managed to get a weekend of 'babysitting' from the family and took the other half to paris for the weekend - thursday evening to sunday afternoon cost approx £400 a 'few' years ago - flights from edingburgh, 4star hotel D, B&B. then 2 days lolling around gay paree. was grand.

Just an idea if you can get the rest of the family sorted.

My wife was recently 40. The last present, that I "forgot" to give her til later in the day was [smug mode] 2 tickets to see Andrea Bocelli sing live - outdoor concert in Tuscany, with baby sitting, flights and accommodation sorted... [/smug mode]

She cried (in a good way!)

I was thinking about Paris. We went there in 2004 and found a brilliant hotel and restaurant almost under the Eiffel tower. That's actually a brilliant idea. Thanks.

I took mine for a quiet weekend in Jersey for her 40th in September, weather was great, and nice to have time away from the kids for once.

Also did a cocktail party with everyone dressed up posh which was fun - I had to sample all the cocktails I was making too 🙂

Tis my Wifes 40th on Tuesday. Much collaboration with her friends & she's off to Health Spa for the day. (If your tempted to go for such a treat for your wife, dont spring it on her on the day though, apparently they need to wax etc before such a day).
She's yet to find out about the secret party for when she gets back, & the diamond earings & necklace I've bought her. Has been awful playing it down but will be worth it. (I hope...).

That's a bit sad CG. I've always marked my life as a celebration of getting this far not as a self tribute?! 🙁
