I would imagine that the west has slowly realised.. after the horrific and damning public shame of Iraq and Afghanistan.. that all right thinking humans are now wise to their propaganda and won't fall for any BS excuses that attempt to justify an invasion..

aside from a few demented old warhorses, wife-beaters and daily mail disciples, the west's next leg of brutal unprovoked attacks in the middle east will be vigorously opposed by the public..

And for this reason the newly formed oil hungry Christo/Chinese superpower will be keeping the Iran offensive hush hush and out of sight of the western media using extreme force and overwhelming corruption to uphold the secrecy of the mission..

or something.. maybe..

in fact it's probably already happened and will be leaked to us in manageable bite sized chunks over the next 20 years..

Are you familiar with the barking mad loony-tunes that presently make up the American Republican candidates? And the paranoid, delusional, christian fundamentalist, uneducated, ill-informed (via Fox News) ****-wits they represent?

They're all madder than a box of frogs. One of them has already made a statement that he wants to 'Nuke' Iran if elected. He actually used that phrase.

I hope to Christ Obama gets in again. Or we're all DOOMED! 😯

Since when did hundreds of thousands of vigously opposed people out on the streets stop fanatics like Blair?

The warmongering Republican Neo-Cons need to wake up & realise that the US Gov hasn't got enough funds to house the increasing number of homeless individuals from the sub prime mortgage debacle let alone start another $1 Trillion war with a Middle Eastern country based on incorrect 'intelligence'...

Binners +1 from me

The biggest threat to global peace is the Republican party.

It's not if but when I reckon. I only hope that dave has the plums to tell mr Obama to shove it up his arse. We need to stop this labour habit of warmongering.

If Iran ran general elections I suspect the candidates' views would pretty much match those of the republican candidates on many of the 'key' issues. 😕

Consider a blocked or mined Strait of Hormuz, the Saudi oil terminals destroyed and oil at $350 a barrel. Perhaps the shock to an already wobbly western economy is what will deter the Washington warmongers...

...we hope...

As was said on last week's "When will the US invade Iran" thread: I suspect even Obama would go batshit over that. Hence why the war-games calmed down a bit when the US Navy made it abundantly clear that it wasn't messing about over that issue

Plus there was the rescue of an Iranian crew by the US navy from Somalian pirates, a chance to ease up on the rhetoric from both sides.

I'm afraid Cressers you're attributing traits of logic and rationality to a group of people to whom they are alien concepts

They'll go to war with Iran, then as the economy collapses, go... "Gee! I never thought of that"

This present crop of Republicans make Dubya look like a towering intellectual colossus. They really are that bad. Pray Obama wins or it could very well mean the end of the world.

For example: Every single republican candidate sites the reason for the Credit crunch as the OVER-REGULATION of the banks, and plans to repeal what puny regulation there presently is

Genuinely gob-smacking stupidity! 😯

Funny how the finger is pointed at the US - people in glass houses and all that! I believe the UK armed forces have also been taking vacation in Iraq, Afghanistan and Libya. Perhaps the UK should look at its own politics and foreign policies before trying to sort out everyone elses!!!

Agreed, but at the moment the latest war threat comes from the US and EU.

By imposing ruinous sanctions. How would the UK react to a threat to it's oil and banking industries?

Imposing sanctions is a lot different than going to war.

You were talking about war that the US an EU were threatening, now its about sanctions which in fact pretty much all nations including the UK have taken. Which is it?

Ever wonder why we don't have sanctions against us?
