What about Kofi Annan?

It's not my usual "window" for riding but I'll see if I can get a pass (just to show some moral support for Snr Consequence). I have been known to lead people into the Labyrinth in the past ... and they followed.

Snow permitting, my 'tache will be wheeling its way up the M3 on Sunday by the look of it. It could be alone on the journey, as the good Dr will be up that way anyway and El Mulletus will be donning the lycra and making the journey from the West alone.

Has anyone got a duster for a long forgotten bike? 😳

horay 🙂 DrBike/Andy is basically the man that welcomed me into the world of mtb, he's responsible for my new weight loss, level of motivation and my presence on this forum.... so feel free to blame him for my ramblings 😉

it'd be great to have you along!

if the forecast stays the same then it'll stay below zero until friday at least.....

whether its solid frozen mud or wet mud, its still fun 😀

i'd rather go for frozen though as it'll all run a bit faster and less cleaning afterwards!

No thanks, I don't want to see pics of cats. I HATE CATS.

trust me there will be no laughing at others skills or lack of its in the rules innit!

if there's any laughing it will be directed towards people taking themselves too seriously. if anybody is riding badly i will out-crap them and ride into a tree to make them feel better.

cos i'm nice like that.

No, hold on CG; this is a ride for anyone: if people want to bring their kids, then that's up to them. As long as they are aware that some of the language might be a bit 'fruity'. And you think you're bayd? I've hardly ever heard you swear! Compared to me, you're fragrant and pleasant of speech...

I'm not bothered who turns up. As long as I don't get knocked off by someone's stupid dog (if this happens, I will sue you, and I have a powerful legal team of top London Lawyers, so be warned).

I wouldn't have thought bringing dogs is advisable really, if there's going to be loads of people. Might be ok with just you and yer dog out for a ride, but when there's seven hundred and forty three riders, it might be a tad difficult.

Small basketed dogs are ok though.

woah their my children, now lets all have a seat and listen to my words of wisdom.

As much as its a casual ride (as there is indeed nothing stopping dezB bringing his kids) i think C_G was making a good point (excuse me for paraphrasing and wording it my own way to shorten the point on this one..) about it being a lot of "adults" blowing off steam in a real life environment that doesn't have swear filters.

even if C_G doesnt swear much in your opinion you haven't met mrsconsequence elfin.... she aint no lady when it comes to language choice and as much as i've tried to find one, she lacks a social-awareness button or volume control 🙁

by the looks of it there will probably be a couple of people bringing snifters of alcohol, and a good chance that some might turn up with the intention of stepping off the side of a trail for a cheeky funny smelling cigarette. if dezB is cool with exlpaining that to da kidz then as an adult he makes his own choice innit blud. 🙂

in the spirit of the ride i really dont want to start making super strict rules about no kids, but at the same time i really dont want to have to ask or expect the larger group to adjust their behaviour if under 18's come along...

make sense? or am i just confusing things? (in the good natured spirit of both the ride and the thread i'd like no arguing too)

Elf - I like to comment on threads where I feel I have some valid knowledge and experience.

Unlike you, I do not feel the need to pontificate on every single Forum thread.

As you know, I have been to many Forum Rides and, indeed, organised many myself. I am also a mum to now adult kids and therefore perfectly entitled to voice my opinion that this is not the place for children.

Why, you yourself admit that your language is colourful. Frankly I would not want a child of mine (even adult child) to be riding with you! These are stressful times we live in and STW'ers really need to chill out. If that includes behaving badly by swearing, farting, drinking etc., so be it.

Now step away from that keyboard and go ride your bike.

Ooh, won't somebody think of the children!!! Let's wrap them all up in cotton wool and cover their delicate little ears and eyes so they won't have to see what a horrible nasty place the World truly is....

I'm so glad I grew up in a little village where everyone is nice and cheerful and kind to each other. I'd hate to have grown up in a nasty big smelly horrible city where there are drugs and crimes and swearings all the time. Think what an unhinged and deranged person I'd be now, If I had! 😯

Now step away from that keyboard and go ride your bike.

No. Don't want to. It's cold, dark and it's snowing. 🙁

The BB shell will only fall out leaving you with a downtube and seattube hanging in the air. Think of it as a form of suspension.

Seeing as Swinley's on our doorstep we've no excuse - would be great to meet some riders from the local area too, and those farther afield. Might be just me though as I think Pip's got something booked...

i have no idea what it is.... a google search isnt too helpful but the halfords website suggests that this years model uses a truvativ powerspline BB.... and i cant see much difference between this years model and last years Fury apart from the stickers on the forks.

extra cool points and sicounted entry to my next sexyparty for the help btw 🙂

thanks for the offer though... it's not felt weird riding it at all and i didnt notice any play... but then again as you may have noticed i'm probably not going to know what that feels like anyway haha! i'll have words with the guys this evening and see what they say. nothing will stop me coming on sunday even if it means buying a new bike/stealing torms new bike.

well that was a successful trip to halfords to collect my bike, new BB fitted for free, got to keep the old one (so little "play" its almost unnoticeable) new cable for the rear derailahhhh... again for free, and got them to lock off the front so i'm forced to stick in the middle ring, thus achieving 1X9 until i get a bashguard and whip off the other rings.

tasty 🙂 just got to remember to pump up my front tyre and i'm sorted for sunday!
