Sunset tonight was the best I've seen in my life. Unfortunately, iPhone camera didnt do it justice. Does anyone have any good photos?

Taken from my front garden in Perthshire. It looked like the sky was on fire!

Stunning evening ride tonight, amazing sunset over Arran which I didn't even attempt to capture on my iPhone camera, and a wee ribbon of mist over all the fields. And the most bats I've ever seen swooping down for flies over the river Ayr, there was dozens of them.

Only downsides were another landslide on the river Ayr way, and the lazy bastard farmers inadequate fencing fails for the third year on the trot, and the highland cattle destroy the trail again.

Trails are dry though!.

They dont even capture 1% of the magnificence of that sunset.

When I saw this thread title I was reminded of a sunset I saw from my flat in Helsinki, causing me to grab my camera and run outside. Funnily enough, the clouds looked very similar to boris's pictures, which led me to wonder if there's a specific phenomenon that looks like this.

There was a cracking one taken looking down the Clyde, saw it somewhere today online.

Looked pretty wild on the NL/DE border, and the rising moon too.

Pollution? Dust?

Apparently it's a combination or atmospheric pollution and the right temperature to hold that pollution at certain altitudes.

I went a bike run wi the dog up the top of the golf course (highest local point to get a decent pic) in Kirkcudbright t'night but stupidly forgot my camera so this piss-poor iPhone shot will have to do, this area was home to the Glasgow Boys art movement 100 odd years ago and was especially famed for the quality of light, unfortunately the camera on an iPhone 5s has no regard for such history.
