The OH and I are going Friday, I'm hoping it will be a classic but we all know what brown's voice can be like live.

I'm going Friday. I'm pant-wettingly excited! It's either going to be epic, or bloody awful music-wise! Atmosphere-wise I doubt you can go far wrong. It's going to be utter madness! Fat bald blokes turning the clock back 20 years? Yes please ! 😀

Yup, going Fri too!
Just dug out my 'Reni' hat AKA my raving hat. The amount of fields, clubs, industrial units etc that hat has been passed around doesn't bear thinking about...*chewing face off* "mmmmm can I wear your hat mate? mmm" , "yeah go on then, as long as a get it back"... I always got it back! albeit a bit sweaty!

Getting just a tad excited now, can't wait 8)

Ian Brown has been brilliant the last 2 times i've seen him....did a couple of Roses tracks too for his last tour, and was spot on...my only concern is the band splitting up by sunday 😆

The Blue Bay for curry.
Best in the area at the mo.

Avoid the Mogul (just up the road in the disused church) at all costs. It's vile.

Some good recommendations It would seem , Im arriving in manchester at 11 and going to try and stay reasonably sober till at least Primal Scream. Strange support bands for saturday and sunday and cant say I'd really want to see plan B and Professor green.

Don't worry about that -you will not hear Ian Brown. Or any of the rest of the band.
There's a video on youtube of their previous gig, all you can hear is thousands of blokes going "I AM THE RESURRECTION..." and actually singing the guitar parts out loud. Might as well have been a football match.
If that's your idea of a good gig, good luck to ya!

Yeah I'm going on Saturday, very much looking forward to it.

I'm normally pretty ambivilent about nostalgia driven stuff like this and there's no way it'll be anything like back in the day but still...I was too young the first time round and I was utterly obsessed with them as a band throughout my youth so there's no way I'm gonna miss them playing in my back yard.

I never, ever thought in a million years I would get to see them live. Think I'd of only been marginally more surprised if The Beatles somehow reunited with the full original line-up.

Just sold my 2 tickets last night.

Mud,
poor live vocals,
crowd full of salford scalls straight off the Stretford End,
4 mile walk with 75000 other people just to get to the nearest (massive) taxi queue,
North Manchester

^^ That's what I keep telling myself, although the real reason is we can't get any babysitters (that we trust).

Bit gutted really

I think it will be a laugh....Mancstock 2012

There'll be loads of middle aged blokes in sun hats getting tanked up and doing pills to relive the old days, except it'll be like motorbikes and they'll end up in trouble (either cos nuclear strength or more likely, a slug pellet that has been tipexed by a scal a few hours earlier).

There's an on-going 'dispute' between the Roses (Management / PR) and photographers, following the release of a contract earlier this week asking the photograpers to sign away the rights to any images taken. Not intended as a comment - just posting as it might be of interest:

Just got back... what a gig 8) "see, we've still got it"!

although, had a little chuckle at the irony of Ian Brown + 70 odd thousand middle aged blokes singing "the past was yours, but the futures mine. You're all outta time." 😆

There is no way the roses are ever going together to produce that feeling that happened at that time ever again, it's nice to pretend to repeat that, and it's still great music imo. Who is it for? It's a cash in on an idea, or a mythology of an era, an idea. good luck to 'em I say..

Worth putting up with GMPTE taking their ideas for a mass transit system from the third reich's highly successful, though often criticised, example at Belson

Went last night also and had a great time. Great atmosphere, no trouble ( that I saw of) and great bands. The wailers were very good. As were primal scream. As for the roses overall quite impressive. Sure browns vocals were drowned out by the band on a couple of songs but on the whole he sounded ok. Squires and Reni, well what can I say, class the pair of 'em. 8)

It feels cliched to bang on about the fact that Ian Brown can't sing; his voice can still stun you with its sheer inability to hold a tune, particularly in the company of such fantastic musicians.

^ found that in a review of the gig!

I was warned by a guy I work with, who'd seen them loads of times 'back in the day', that they could be great or pretty awful, but I was blown away by how well they played. The crowd helped at times, by drowning out his voice completely, but overall it was just a great night.

I had a fantastic night emsz! Really really enjoyed it! The atmosphere was fantastic! The resurrection was always going to be the highlight, and john squire did his full on Led Zep-esque guitar god role for it 🙂 Reni was immense!!!. There were the predictable Ian Brown duff notes, but d'ya know what? ..... Who ****ing cares. It lived upto the hype, then some!!! I'd happily go back and watch it again tonight! And tomorrow!

Binners it wouldn't be right if Ian could 'actually' sing...

I've seen primal scream at Glasto when I was 13-14 or something, I think the lead singer had been a bit liberal with the drugs. 😆 It was soooo shit, he just about managed to insult every-one.

Bet the hairs stood up on your neck when that drum intro hit...
