Anyone else heading to Manchester this weekend for the long awaited Resurection of The Roses?. I saw them back in Glasgow in1990 and Im really looking forward to It. Also can anyone suggest a good curry or boozer for a pre gig beer.?
Railway and Naturalist or The Church Inn, both in Prestwich.
(my locals).
I'll be listening to the gigs in the garden 😉
Oh yes!! Sunday for me, unfortunately I'll miss Primal Scream and Beady Eye, but who cares....bring on the resurecshyuuuun!! 😀
The OH and I are going Friday, I'm hoping it will be a classic but we all know what brown's voice can be like live.
I'm going Friday. I'm pant-wettingly excited! It's either going to be epic, or bloody awful music-wise! Atmosphere-wise I doubt you can go far wrong. It's going to be utter madness! Fat bald blokes turning the clock back 20 years? Yes please ! 😀
Saturday for me
Yup, going Fri too!
Just dug out my 'Reni' hat AKA my raving hat. The amount of fields, clubs, industrial units etc that hat has been passed around doesn't bear thinking about...*chewing face off* "mmmmm can I wear your hat mate? mmm" , "yeah go on then, as long as a get it back"... I always got it back! albeit a bit sweaty!
Getting just a tad excited now, can't wait 8)
but we all know what brown's voice can be like live.
Ian Brown has been brilliant the last 2 times i've seen him....did a couple of Roses tracks too for his last tour, and was spot on...my only concern is the band splitting up by sunday 😆

Bit like on here then. 😀
Going Sunday - have to say the travel in and out of the park seems to be a right pain in the arse
Well my kids were looking at some pictures of me last night, at the height of the Madcester nonsense. I had lots of hair! They reckon I look better bald! 🙂
Was meant to be going Saturday.
Sadly I'm in hospital so I won't be able to make it..
Oh yes going Saturday
Been looking on u tube at the other gigs and they are looking much better than I remember. I fully expect to be very emotional.
One love
The Blue Bay for curry.
Best in the area at the mo.
Avoid the Mogul (just up the road in the disused church) at all costs. It's vile.
It's my birthday on Saturday, my brother lives in Manc and managed to score a couple of tickets last week from a mate who couldn't make it. Just booked my train ticket for Saturday morning heading up from the South coast, 'cited!
Friday night for me, can't wait saw Ian Brown at the MEN last year (might of been year before) and he was awesome, did fools gold and I wanna be adored and the place just erupted
Some good recommendations It would seem , Im arriving in manchester at 11 and going to try and stay reasonably sober till at least Primal Scream. Strange support bands for saturday and sunday and cant say I'd really want to see plan B and Professor green.
See some of you there on Friday, gonna be epic:)
Mates down from Scotland.
Biking in the morning.
Wailers, Vaccines, Primal Scream, STONE ROSES.
Graeme Park at Sankeys.
I'm not sure a better Friday is possible!
[but we all know what brown's voice can be like live.

Don't worry about that -you will not hear Ian Brown. Or any of the rest of the band.
There's a video on youtube of their previous gig, all you can hear is thousands of blokes going "I AM THE RESURRECTION..." and actually singing the guitar parts out loud. Might as well have been a football match.
If that's your idea of a good gig, good luck to ya!

Ha ha just texted these to my mate in Hyde and his reply was "****in hell you bringing a gun ?, Prestwich is like the Gorbals". 😆
You sit tutting at your YouTube vids Dez. I'll be having a ball singing along to the guitar bits! 😉
Everyone knows its basically gonna be 30-50-year-old-male group karaoke. It'll still be fan-bloody-tastic!!!
Does that mean there's a ticket needs to find a home?
Oh yeah, get well soon and all that, too.
Er, more like 40-50 yr old bloke karaoke 😀
binbins!!!!!!!!!!!
Guess who's gonna be there on Friday. Go on matey...guess.
Hint: 2 d's
😀

Graeme park? Aww would love to go, remember going to the hacienda "back in the day" to listen to him. To old now, well, not unless someone shoves some disco biscuits down my neck 😆
Yeah I'm going on Saturday, very much looking forward to it.
I'm normally pretty ambivilent about nostalgia driven stuff like this and there's no way it'll be anything like back in the day but still...I was too young the first time round and I was utterly obsessed with them as a band throughout my youth so there's no way I'm gonna miss them playing in my back yard.
I never, ever thought in a million years I would get to see them live. Think I'd of only been marginally more surprised if The Beatles somehow reunited with the full original line-up.

^^^THIS - day out with your mates, seeing the band that first got me interested in music when I was 15 - can't wait!
**** me, and your mate lives in HYDE???
I'm from Hyde...and that's a valid point...Bernard Manning called it a roundabout with chippys..in reality it's a shithole...
the warm up gigs have had good reviews in a certain arse licking weekly paper....
gonna be a football crowd, good luck!!
I'm there on sunday, looking forward to it. Mates coming up from Ross, group of us together for the first time in 10+ years, going to be a memorable day with a fantasic soundtrack
Off to see them too, albeit in a few weeks when they head to Singapore. Can't wait!

Haterz hatin.

No tutting. Just a bemused cringe.
I'm sure you'll all have fun and sore throats the next day!
Cringerz cringin
Pill'edds pillin...
They'll be more casualtys there than Selly Oak... 😆
Shouterz shoutin 😉
Clapperz clappin!
😆
It'll be quite a night that's fo sure... 8)
Just sold my 2 tickets last night.
Mud,
poor live vocals,
crowd full of salford scalls straight off the Stretford End,
4 mile walk with 75000 other people just to get to the nearest (massive) taxi queue,
North Manchester
^^ That's what I keep telling myself, although the real reason is we can't get any babysitters (that we trust).
Bit gutted really
I think it will be a laugh....Mancstock 2012
There'll be loads of middle aged blokes in sun hats getting tanked up and doing pills to relive the old days, except it'll be like motorbikes and they'll end up in trouble (either cos nuclear strength or more likely, a slug pellet that has been tipexed by a scal a few hours earlier).
There's an on-going 'dispute' between the Roses (Management / PR) and photographers, following the release of a contract earlier this week asking the photograpers to sign away the rights to any images taken. Not intended as a comment - just posting as it might be of interest:

Its been raining quite a bit. Anyone fancy putting a number on how many pairs of ruined Adidas Samba by Sunday evening then? 😆
Got tickets this year for T in the park, cannot wait to see them there.....
I've got the shitty job of picking my mate up after the as he's up from London and staying at mine - He had a spare ticket going but my gf is going in to hospital Friday afternoon 😐
Binners , I bought a new pair of suede Puma's for the event but now going to rock some green wellies for the night.
Check this out.
Deadly I don't hate the stone roses, but I can't see the point of going to a gig.

So here's an idea. Don't go.
"TAKE THAT for dads"
Baggies, Berghaus and Beanies at the ready!!
There's gonna be a lot of dad dancing there today - can't wait!!
going tonight with some friends
really looking forward to the occasion if not the vocals, i think deep down a lot of people will expect it to be a bit crap but wont care
looking forward to seeing the scream if we can get through the park & ride in time
<digs out flares and reni hat>
TAKE THAT for dads"
THIS
And DD I have seen them a few times back in the day and I actually recall at least one of the gigs reasonably well 😉
I hope Ian uses auto tune is all I am saying
Seen primal Scream as well when it mattered
seen primal scream "when it mattered" as well
also saw them last year on the screamadelica tour and they were still superb
looking foward to them almost as much as the roses
The price of 4 x cans of delicious Fosters from the Spa on Whittaker Lane went up from £4 to £6.50 this morning apparently.
Oh bore off JY.
Waiting here with a cider (only £4) to see if binners makes it out from town alive.
Oh ok I hope you enjoy yourself even without the beautiful penis being there
Sat at home waiting on my mate arriving from 'darn sour', taxi booked, boots on, baldness and middle-age polished, preened and ready!
Might have a G&T whilst I wait!
I suppose I should think about making a move from the pub in Chorlton. We've been saying that for the last couple of hours 🙂
Jealous - I've just been chatting to my mate who's stuck in traffic around Newcastle under Lyme.
GET A MOVE ON!!!
I'm going tomorrow. Anyone live near by so that I can park on your drive. There is cash in it for you...
Mate has gone tonight, said travel to the park was a frickin nightmare - all modes rammed
am really jealous.
but will see them at a festival in Oslo in about 6 weeks. if they are still together that is
:o)

Driving up on Sunday from cardiff. if any locals can babysit a ford focus for the evening it would be much appreciated. Terrahawk ok to pm u?
Well, well, well.
I had hoped for so much. I guess I had very high expectations. I'd probably built it up to be an amazing gig.
They were ****ing awesome. 😀
Just got back... what a gig 8) "see, we've still got it"!
although, had a little chuckle at the irony of Ian Brown + 70 odd thousand middle aged blokes singing "the past was yours, but the futures mine. You're all outta time." 😆
There is no way the roses are ever going together to produce that feeling that happened at that time ever again, it's nice to pretend to repeat that, and it's still great music imo. Who is it for? It's a cash in on an idea, or a mythology of an era, an idea. good luck to 'em I say..
That was absolutely awesome! They put on a bloody great show!!!!!
Worth putting up with GMPTE taking their ideas for a mass transit system from the third reich's highly successful, though often criticised, example at Belson
I'm glad you had a great time binbin, how was ressurection? everything you hoped?
Went last night also and had a great time. Great atmosphere, no trouble ( that I saw of) and great bands. The wailers were very good. As were primal scream. As for the roses overall quite impressive. Sure browns vocals were drowned out by the band on a couple of songs but on the whole he sounded ok. Squires and Reni, well what can I say, class the pair of 'em. 8)
It feels cliched to bang on about the fact that Ian Brown can't sing; his voice can still stun you with its sheer inability to hold a tune, particularly in the company of such fantastic musicians.
^ found that in a review of the gig!
I was warned by a guy I work with, who'd seen them loads of times 'back in the day', that they could be great or pretty awful, but I was blown away by how well they played. The crowd helped at times, by drowning out his voice completely, but overall it was just a great night.
I had a fantastic night emsz! Really really enjoyed it! The atmosphere was fantastic! The resurrection was always going to be the highlight, and john squire did his full on Led Zep-esque guitar god role for it 🙂 Reni was immense!!!. There were the predictable Ian Brown duff notes, but d'ya know what? ..... Who ****ing cares. It lived upto the hype, then some!!! I'd happily go back and watch it again tonight! And tomorrow!
Couldn't agree more binners 8)
There were the predictable Ian Brown duff notes, but d'ya know what? ..... Who ****ing cares.
Nice one . sounds great. the report i heard said prety much the same - its not about that , if you want pitch perfect go see Michael Bublé 🙂
I'd happily go back and watch it again tonight! And tomorrow!
Same here 🙂
Binners it wouldn't be right if Ian could 'actually' sing...
I've seen primal scream at Glasto when I was 13-14 or something, I think the lead singer had been a bit liberal with the drugs. 😆 It was soooo shit, he just about managed to insult every-one.
Bet the hairs stood up on your neck when that drum intro hit...
